Universal Arches moves to ISO 9001:2015

Universal Arches, now part of Kaliber Group, has moved its quality management system to the new ISO 9001:2015 standard. It is reportedly the only dedicated shaped and arched PVC-U frame manufacturer working to this international business accreditation.

The new 2015 certification is said to be less prescriptive than the previous variants and now focusses on performance and a process-led approach, something that the company says has already been part of the business operations at Universal Arches for some years.

Over the last eight ISO inspections, the auditors have reportedly returned zero non-conformities, an ‘impressive’ standard which is said to be ‘fully representative of the way the business is run’. According to Universal, the manufacture of complex shaped frames is a ‘distinctly different animal’ to that of standardised square PVC-U frames, which can be processed with high levels of automation.

At Universal Arches, joinery benches are used to manufacture each individual frame, with 3D computer modelling used to provide manufacturing templates to within a few millimetres.

David Richards, Kaliber Group chairman, commented: “The new ISO certification doesn’t just set us apart in the sector, but is a reflection of our business operations against any other companies in the glazing and fenestration industries or beyond. With robust processes in place, our customers can be ensured of the very finest product quality and consistency, regardless of frame complexity or specification.”
