42 COLOUR High demand for favourite shade of grey Birmingham based ExtrudaSeal is reporting record levels in the uptake of its RAL 7016 anthracite grey gaskets, claiming that summer renovation projects are causing sales of aluminium windows and doors to spike. ExtrudaSeal says it is supplying fabricators across the UK with a comprehensive range of rubber seals in thousands of RAL colours, suitable for any glazing applications. Managing director, Chris Byers, said: “This year, the warm spell has arrived with an even greater surge in demand for aluminium, bi-folding doors in particular, and our customers are extremely busy supplying installers with the volumes they need, which has had a strong influence on our own output of gaskets, especially the RAL 7016.” Grey is arguably the most popular colour for windows and doors in the residential sector, which has been strongly influenced by modern architectural trends, as well as the commercial market, where the traditional white is almost never the preferred choice. “The times when homeowners could have ‘any colour window or door as long as it was white’ are long gone,” said Chris. “Now fabricators are investing in expensive powder coating facilities, helping their customers to be more appealing to the end consumer thanks to unlimited choice. So why have different colour gaskets from that of the aluminium frame? In today’s market, attention to detail could make all the difference for a fabricator.” Directors at the company are also crediting the growth to more fabricators discovering the advantages of sourcing their gaskets from a specialist manufacturer. Chris said: “It is a combination of a rise in demand coming from the market, and an increase in the number of customers we’re now supplying, as more fabricators are finding out about the huge savings they can obtain should they buy gaskets from a flexible extruder, rather than from their system companies, as the latter do not manufacture rubber seals, and have to buy them in.” New Heritage Colour Collection unveiled www.ggpmag.com August 2015 Deceuninck, one of the world’s leading PVC-U systems companies, has recently introduced the Heritage Colour Collection. The new range includes six premium colours with a pure white woodgrain foil on the inside, as well as white woodgrain outside on English oak inside and an English oak on English oak option. This takes Deceuninck’s colour-from-stock range to 26 unique colourways. “The eight new colourways are a stunning addition to the existing 18 colour-from-stock Colour Express range,” said Roy Frost, Deceuninck UK MD. “The new range will help cement our customers’ positions as leaders in colour – they already sell 50% more than their competitors.” All Deceuninck’s Slide & Swing New Wave Door, composite door, new sliding patio door and Heritage 2800 window profiles come in 26 colourways from stock with matching or complementary trims, cills and ancillaries. “Fabricators and installers find it hard to sell colour because systems companies have made it very difficult for them. But Deceuninck has done everything to make it easy to sell colour,” continued Roy. “We keep it in stock for a start, so when installers order they know their complete order will arrive together at the same time. Selling Deceuninck colour is as easy as selling Deceuninck white. That’s why Deceuninck fabricators and installers sell so much more colour than their competitors.”
