In brief FA B R I C AT O R & I N S TA L L E R WO R L D HOWZAT FOR SPONSORSHIP?!: Pontefract based trade fabricator, Dempsey Dyer, is sponsoring Alwoodley Cricket Club for the 2015 season. Peter Dyer, sales and marketing director at Dempsey Dyer, who has played for the local club for the past five years, said: “Alwoodley is a family-run club that’s at the very heart of the community and we were delighted to offer our support. As a member of the club it will be nice to see the money put to good use and helping all age groups from under 9s right up to the senior team.” Abbey Windows, a retail and commercial installer based in Slough, recently teamed up with trade fabricator, Astraseal, to complete an unusual project at a property on the River Thames, that was reportedly formerly owned by rock star Elton John’s mother. The client requested a replica of the traditional style summerhouse which had previously stood on the grounds of the property, with the intention of upgrading the new structure to a modern material but still keeping in line with the original appearance. Abbey Windows worked closely with its supplier Astraseal to bring the project to fruition, installing a white aluminium glazed summerhouse with two sets of French doors and solid panel rear. A grey Global aluminium roof was then fitted, which featured thermally efficient solid aluminium panels. 76 PTF is granted Approved Supplier status www.ggpmag.com August 2015 • Network Veka’s education and training offering, The Network Veka Academy, has taken on its first apprentices following its launch earlier in the year. The move is said to reflect Rehau’s ongoing commitment to the Scottish social housing market and its support for customers across Scotland. Rehau will be exhibiting at the SFHA’s Property Repairs and Asset Management Conference at Aviemore in October and is nominating its team of technical and commercial experts to speak at other SFHA events. • EYG Trade donated a full house of windows and doors to a Hull family as part of the BBC’s ‘DIY SOS The Big Build’ programme. More than £7,000 worth of home improvement products were donated by EYG’s suppliers to make life easier for Jason Liversidge and his family, after Jason was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). EYG supplied and fitted two composite doors, six windows (two of them bay windows) guttering and two sets of French doors as part of the project to make the property wheelchair accessible. Customers of Suffolk based Plastic Trade Frames (PTF) can now apply to join the Veka approved installer scheme after the supplier was granted Veka approved supplier status. The Veka scheme insists that installer members source frames from one of its approved suppliers, so PTF can now not only support its existing customers in applying for membership but also has an additional selling point to offer new customers, as MD Adrian Lewis explained: “We will be using our approved status and the opportunities it brings as part of our package to attract new customers but we will also be encouraging our existing ones to make the most of scheme. It gives installers something they cannot get from other suppliers, as well as rewarding their loyalty, and at the same time gives them a unique edge to present to the homeowners, not to mention many other benefits like lead generation and use of the Veka Marketing Hub.” PTF offers on-site assistance and can even supply and install via its retail sister company, Frames Conservatories Direct. Both are customers of Glazerite Windows, which has supported PTF in its application for approved status, just as PTF will now do with its own customers. As well as supplying frames to local installers, PTF also operates a trade counter, mainly for builders and other trades in the area. Rocking summerhouse replica
