80 I N S TALLAT I O N S Flush sash window is ‘most successful’ for TruFrame The new flush sash window from TruFrame is said to have been its most successful product launch ever, with a large number of installations having already been completed. The flush sash is inspired by traditional timber joinery, but according to TruFrame, the product is ‘by no means limited to heritage applications in period properties’. A ‘less is more’ design mentality is said to lend itself perfectly to modern installations, through the use of alternative hardware and colours. The colour range now includes white, flat cream, rosewood, golden oak, white, black and cream foils, Chartwell green, anthracite grey (RAL 7016) and Irish oak, all of which are offered on a 10-day lead time. Also benefiting from a new and exclusive milled decorative astragal bar, the flush sash window is manufactured using TruFrame’s four-step hand finishing process. This involves the checking of the corner contours for uniformity, levelling of the outside edges, checking the evenness of the corner grooves and all apertures for any weld build up, making for ‘one of the most impressive and exacting PVC-U windows in the UK market today’ according to TruFrame. The window has also been designed using the Liniar six-chambered EnergyPlus 70mm outer frame, along with a fourchambered 50mm deep, flush sash. According to TruFrame, the results are ‘A’ and ‘A+’ rated windows that are an ‘easy and relatively cost effective proposition’ for TruFrame customers, ‘with the optional benefit of buying everything from a single source and having the CE marking process taken care of as well’. www.truframe.co.uk Safe access for installers Window-Dec is a purpose designed safety access platform for window installers from Easi-Dec, the working at height safety specialist. Installing windows can be a dangerous job, according to Easi-Dec. Not only do fitters have to work at height, but the job requires them to carry heavy materials up to the level they are working on. On top of this, the longer a window takes to fit, the more money it costs. As a result of these factors, Window-Dec has been designed with ‘optimum safety, ease of installation and quick assembly’ in mind. Incorporating a lifting mechanism for raising window panels up to the required height, the Window-Dec platform is available with a self-locking pulley system, which is capable of lifting up to 75Kg. The platform has a hinged opening at the base through which the panel can be lifted, to avoid any unsafe leaning or stretching by the installers. The hinged opening is closed once the window is lifted onto the platform to maintain the platform’s integrity. The Window–Dec platform creates a safe working platform extending to 2.5m. Installers can work comfortably using the 2,500mm x 880mm wide platform size with a hinged opening of 2,440mm x 210mm. www.easi-dec.co.uk Social housing collaboration Glazerite Windows, Veka and G14 ‘Installer of the year’, The Window Company (Contracts) (TWCC), recently collaborated to complete a social housing new build contract for The Sanctuary Housing Group, with main contractor, TJ Evers. TWCC won the contract for all the windows and French doors in 24 new homes, which range from two bed bungalows and flats, to four bed detached houses in Northumbria Close, in the Cambridgeshire village of Haddenham. Director of TJ Evers, Kevin Howell, complimented the TWCC team: “The Window Company did a great job for us on this project. They were efficient and they provided a good quality installation that was completed without any problems.” The Window Company (Contracts) director, Martin Thornton, said the company had already made approaches to TJ Evers as a potential client: “So when this enquiry was passed to us from the Glazerite/Veka team, we were not only happy to fulfil our part of the contract but also had the chance to give Evers first-hand experience of what we can do.” Infinity from Veka contains 80% recycled PVC-U with 20% virgin polymer on all outer surfaces for aesthetics and colour stability. www.glazeritewindows.co.uk Baltic pine upgrade ‘breathes fresh life’ into self-build A self-build extension and renovation project incorporating Black Millwork’s own range of windows and doors, is said to have ‘breathed fresh life’ into a family home in Berkshire. The ‘substantial’ detached proper ty is said to have undergone a ‘radical’ transformation inside and out, including a complete fenestration upgrade. Installed at the proper ty were 32 of Black Millwork’s flush casement windows, manufactured from quality knot-free engineered Baltic pine and finished in RAL white 9010. The windows are said to provide excellent thermal efficiency, achieving a ‘U’ value of just 1.4 W/m²K. In addition, four of Black Millwork’s French doors and three of its bi-fold doors were also fitted at the property, with all the doors achieving a minimum ‘U’ value of 1.5 W/m²K. www.blackmillwork.co.uk www.ggpmag.com August 2015
