Hybrid officially launched Prefix Systems has formally launched its Warmroof Hybrid solid roof, which was on display on the Prefix stand at this year’s FIT Show. Warmroof Hybrid introduces a 44mm triple glazed panel, which is ‘integrated seamlessly’ into the roof, offering a ‘U’ value of just 0.6 W/(m²K). But beyond the performance 92 P R O D U C T S & S E R V I C E S characteristics, the design of the Hybrid option brings in Opus hardwood cladding to the internal frame and slimline ridge section, for what Prefix says is an ‘aesthetically pleasing’ finish. Bar centres are 750mm as standard, offering 700mm of vision, with glass from eaves to slimline ridge for maximum light transmission, while the option of an internal pelmet offers an additional lighting option. According to Prefix, the sizeable glass units bring ‘considerably more light’ than ‘even the largest roof light specified by other Warmroof designs’. Chris Baron, co-director of Prefix Systems commented: “The launch of Warmroof Hybrid has been eagerly anticipated by our customers, who have been involved in its development. Full length glazing from eaves to ridge, triple glazing and the adoption of Opus hardwood makes this an unrivalled option in the solid roof sector.” www.prefixsystems.co.uk Self-tinting glass in action Clayton Glass has produced a time-lapse video to showcase the ‘self-tinting’ Smartglass Dynamic in action on a conservatory roof on a hot summer’s day. The new video, which can be viewed on the Smartglass website at www.smart-glass.co.uk/products/smartglass-dynamic is 2:39 minutes long and shows the change in the conservatory roof glass from clear at the beginning and end of the day to a darkened tint during the middle of the day, when outside temperatures touched 30º. It can also be seen on YouTube at here. According to Clayton Glass, Smartglass Ultra 86 already provides the greatest performance of any conservatory roof glass with fixed performance levels, but it claims the new Dynamic glass offers a better G-value at 10% and tint of 6% when needed during the hottest days of this summer. Yet during the early and latter parts of the day this glass technology offers a 60% light transmission, approaching that of a standard IGU, along with an ‘impressive’ G-value of 34%. Clayton Glass’s Jason McCabe, said: “The feedback has been phenomenal from the homeowners of the first few installations and this new video really does help convey how this dynamic glass technology works. www. smart-glass.co.uk New look website Since the launch of its brand new aluminium factory, Sternfenster says it has been able to ‘up its game’ with its aluminium products. With a wide range of aluminium windows and doors on offer, the company says that becoming a Sternfenster Approved Installer allows members to gain access to ‘the very best products currently available on the market’. The range of aluminium windows from Sternfenster is said to utilise a ‘market-leading profile’ and includes casement, sliding sash, tilt & turn and more, enabling homeowners to find the ‘ideal style’ for their property. Approved Installers will also gain access to a wide range of high quality aluminium doors, including residential, French, bi-fold and patio doors. Spectus has launched a new 85mm outerframe which is said to solve ‘a wealth of problems’ for fabricators and installers. Martin Althorpe, Spectus’ technical director, said: “Our message is simple: if you’re struggling with doors and windows, stop. Our new 85mm outerframe has the answers.” Said to solve three of the biggest problems that installers face when fitting doors and windows, according to Spectus, the larger new outerframe means that fitting hinges to the frame becomes easier ‘because there’s no need to try to avoid damage to plasterwork or having to make good the surrounds and décor’. Trickle vents are also easier to accommodate according to Spectus ‘with no compromise to functionality or aesthetics needed’. The bigger size also means no need to use packers on any apertures, ‘saving time, extra expense and ensuring a much neater finish’ according to Spectus. Martin said: “We launched the new 85mm outerframe at the FIT Show and installers and fabricators were quick to see the benefits. All installers want to complete a neater job in a faster time and all fabricators would like a little extra tolerance in manufacturing. The new 85mm outerframe fulfils both these wishes.” www.spectus.co.uk Specialist IGU and conservatory roof supplier, Double R Glass & Roofing Systems, has launched a ‘new look’ website. Ian Sims, managing director of Double R, said: “The new look site now better reflects the business Double R has become. It has been brought up to date with a fresher appearance and more information to make it easier for existing and future customers to find what they need. “Double R is a pioneer – often the first to bring new products to market or implement new manufacturing techniques, so it’s important we have a quick and easy way of keeping the market up to date. “Visitors to the site can now easily see how we help customers stay one step ahead of the competition with the very best in roofs and glass with a detailed overview of both areas of our business. We have also updated the site with new and more photography to give those that haven’t been to Double R before, an insight into our operation. There is a comprehensive technical information centre as well, for those who want to know more about the credentials of Double R or the products we supply. We hope visitors enjoy visiting the new electronic home of Double R at www.glassandroofs.com” www.ggpmag.com August 2017 Sternfenster’s Nathan Court said: “Our comprehensive, high quality aluminium range truly stands as an invaluable asset for installers across the UK. With the demand for aluminium growing exponentially throughout the market, becoming an Approved Installer will give businesses in the home improvement industry the support they need to keep up with modern standards.” www.sternfenster.com ‘High quality’ aluminium range Outerframe ‘has the answers’
