Products of 2013 Continental range Described as ‘subtle and understated’, the new Continental Collection of GRP composite doors from Phoenix Door Panels, part of Masco UK Window Group, is reportedly proving popular with customers. Featuring a variety of glazing aperture options and inspired by European design styles, the new doors come in both traditional colours and softer shades, such as Chartwell green, dove grey and duck egg blue. New hardware, such as ‘elegant’ D-shaped, full length straight, offset and arched chrome door handles, continues the theme. The Winkhaus AV2 Heritage door lock, described as a ‘convenient and discreet’ automatic multipoint locking system, can also be specified. A dedicated brochure accompanies the range. www.phoenixdoorpanels.co.uk Lock has ‘XL’ factor The latest addition to the family of Excalibur high specification locking options from Kenrick, the Excalibur XL shootbolt locking system, has been developed to bring the highest levels of security to the home owner, while offering ‘convenience and value to fabricators’. The Excalibur XL is Secured By Design approved and is said to offer a ‘wealth of unique security features’. It benefits from a reinforced pressed steel face plate to provide ‘unrivalled’ strength and reliability and features steel shootbolts, an unhanded die cast gearbox and patented, bi-directional die cast claws. According to Kenrick, the Excalibur XL system is ‘extremely’ quick and simple to fit and has been designed to fit most Eurogroove systems. Excalibur XL has been successfully tested to more than 100,000 operations of opening and closing the window and provides more than 240 hours of intense, salt based corrosion to exceed the requirements of BS 7412. www.kenricks.co.uk 36 December 2013 When red and blue won’t do With the demand for colour showing no sign of abating, RegaLead says its DoorColour offering has made a significant impact since its launch in spring. Marketed through the company’s Decorative Door Products division, DoorColour is a paint system formulated specifically for colouring GRP composite doors. The entire system is available to those who wish to produce any colour from RAL, Pantone, BS, Dulux and Farrow & Ball, in house, at what RegaLead considers a ‘reasonable price’. A range of 22 premixed colours is also available, including ‘muted heritage options’, a selection of greys and a range of high gloss, vibrant colours. DoorColour is based on the company’s ColorSpray GRP technology, which uses the same colorant system as the ColorSpray Glass system – often used in the splashback and architectural glazing industries – but incorporates a specially produced base material for use on GRP, ABS and PVC surfaces. www.regalead.co.uk Own brand line ‘well received’ Window Ware, the nationwide distributor of hardware for doors and windows, has launched a new own brand line, Kore. Initially focusing on flag hinges, friction stays, espag bar and door handles, Kore is said to already be ‘well received’ by customers, many of whom are using the new products as the catalyst to switch to online ordering, via the revamped Window Ware website. Commenting on the launch of Kore, Window Ware managing director, Rachel Attwood, said: “We place a lot of emphasis on quality and service – it’s what we’re known for – and we’re very much a supplier of choice. Kore gives us an extra opportunity to offer customers flexibility in that choice. We see this as complementing our branded partners’ offer, making it more likely customers will buy a basket of products from us. We are offering something different, for example with our new Egress Easy Clean friction stay. It’s unique to Window Ware and patented.” www.windowware.co.uk ‘60 pages of innovation’ Solidor says its latest composite door brochure, is ‘packed with 60 pages of innovation, industry firsts and key features’ of its product range. The new brochure focuses on the fact that Solidor’s doors are based on a solid and fully sustainable hardwood core and are available in 17 different door colours/finishes including mocha, rich aubergine, Chartwell green, duck egg Blue, French grey and Irish oak. For a copy of the new brochure and new colour swatch, or to find out more about Solidor’s Recommended Installer scheme, call 01782 847300 or e-mail enquiries@solidor.co.uk. www.solidor.co.uk In-house performance calculator Gloucester based firm, the Customade Group, has developed an in-house performance calculator, covered by Initial Type Testing (ITT) from BSI. It calculates the thermal transmission of its Fineline range of aluminium windows and doors against EN14351-1:2006. Markus Springer, group product development manager at Customade, said: “We are naturally delighted to have been approved to calculate the thermal performance of our Fineline windows independently of a notified body. “With the introduction of CE marking, the demand for lower ‘U’ values in construction products will stimulate change within the building industry, in terms of new products and new construction details. However, customers also demand products that are aesthetically pleasing and user friendly. Our Fineline system satisfies those desires and, with further product enhancements on the horizon, we are looking forward to taking this product to the next level.” www.customade.co.uk
