Products of 2013 ‘Ultimate’ heritage The first installation of a Rehau Heritage vertical slider, complete with the new run through sash horn, took place earlier this year, in the historic town of Windsor in Berkshire. Fabricated by CWG Choices, the Rehau option was installed at the Victorian cottage by Richard Savin Double Glazing because it was believed to be the ‘closest replacement’ for the three timber box sashes which had reportedly ‘deteriorated beyond repair’. Richard Savin says that the Rehau Heritage vertical slider met the owner’s requirement for low maintenance and energy efficiency but also matched the sightlines of the timber box sash with the ‘added authenticity’ of run through sash horns. CWG Choices is one of the first fabricators in the UK to start manufacturing the Rehau Heritage vertical slider with the new run through sash horn and is now marketing what it believes is ‘the ultimate window for heritage properties’. www.rehau.co.uk Triple track system Patio Door Specialists (PDS) has launched what the company describes as a ‘revolutionary’ new triple track patio door system, based on the Kömmerling PremiLine system, branded Tri-Slider. This unique triple track system option offers a genuine alternative to the bi-folding door, yet at a more cost effective price point. It also offers slim sightlines and a glass area that can offer up to 25% more light than other large door openings. It includes more than 80 individual cylinder options, reportedly making it the ‘most extensive’ collection ever launched by Kenrick. The Kenrick range of cylinders spans three levels – Standard, Security and High Security. The collection of Standard six-pin cylinders conforms to BS EN 1303 and is available in all popular sizes. Options include half cylinders, key-key and key-thumb cylinders. The Security collection includes six pin anti-pick, anti-bump and anti-drill cylinders, which meet the standards of TS 007 and KM 544418 and are SKG 2 star rated. Kenrick’s top of the range High Security six-pin cylinders are anti-pick, anti-bump, anti-drill and anti-snap when used in conjunction with the Kenrick RASP Anti Snap system. www.kenricks.co.uk Filling the void with Airblock Sealant and adhesive specialist, Geocel, has launched a new product to combat what it claims are ‘some of the most common air leakage points’. New Airblock Flexible Foam is said to be the only air leakage foam seal on the market tested to the latest standards and is said to offer a ‘versatile option’ to filling voids to improve energy efficiency. Geocel’s new Airblock Flexible Foam helps seal the gaps where air leakage most commonly occurs – where building services enter and leave the building (such as electrical cables vents and pipes), gaps around windows and doors, around suspended floors and loft hatches, even through light fixtures. Because it is a ‘high performance’ polyurethane foam it is said to be able fill and seal most construction materials and remains flexible to absorb movement after it has cured. It can be cut, sawn, sanded, painted or plastered over after application. www.geocel.co.uk A colourful service Smart Architectural Aluminium has launched a new ‘Painted Accessories’ service, allowing fabricators to order door furniture and hinges in any colour to match or contrast with the aluminium profile. The new service covers every colour in the company’s KL, Sensations and RAL ranges and is being offered initially on all Visofold 1000, 2000, 3000 and 4000 series doors. Over the coming months, it will be extended to include the Visoglide, Slide and Alitherm systems. Smart’s managing director, Eddie Robinson, commented: “Having listened to feedback from our customers, we saw this is an extremely beneficial addition to our service offer and invested around £200,000 in creating a bespoke paint line for accessories. As the first manufacturer to offer this service in the UK, we believe our customers will benefit from the additional choice that it offers and the great design flexibility that it brings.” www.smartsystems.co.uk New Duplex sizes Thermoseal Group has introduced new sizes to its range of Duplex fittings for Thermobar warm edge spacer. Previously available in 11.5 x 15mm and 15.5 x 15mm, the range of Thermobar Duplex centre keys and edge keys has been expanded to include fittings in 11.5 x 18mm and 15.5 x 18mm. All sizes are available in black, grey, and neutral colours. The new sizes have also been designed to be dual function, as they will be compatible with Thermobar muntin bar/interbar which is currently being developed in-house. Sales director, Mark Hickox, commented: “Thermoseal Group is dedicated to extending the range of compatible fittings available for our premium quality products. The expansion of this range will benefit our customers by providing greater flexibility and choice when manufacturing warm edge units. Over the past few years we have witnessed an increasing demand for warm edge spacer, and this is only likely to increase as manufacturers’ strive for ever higher window energy ratings.” www.thermosealgroup.com.
