GGP December 2013

Systems & Profiles 360 vision Sue Davenport, the new group marketing director at Liniar, looks back at the company’s journey from its beginnings in 2008 and tells us why, just six years later, 52 December 2013 2014 will see it become a true market leader... As a newcomer to the industry, my first few months with Liniar have been extremely interesting. Trying to absorb 30 years of industry history in a short space of time has been a real challenge, but I felt it was something I needed to do and I’m glad that I have! It has started to give me a real feel for how the industry works. What has really come across is its incredible vibrancy and innovative nature, and the ‘never say die’ approach from everybody within it. There are plenty of industries which have buckled much more severely during the recession than this one, so not only am I delighted to be a part of it, I’m really excited about the future. In Liniar, I also believe that I have joined the best systems company in the industry, one that after just six years in business is in a great position to become a true market leader in 2014. This has come from managing director, Roger Hartshorn, having a real 360 degree view of the industry, and how he has positioned Liniar within it. We know that Liniar is respected industry wide for its products, and its range of bi-folding doors is a perfect example. As the first bespoke PVC-U bi-fold product range on the market, its sales continue to outstrip those of its competitors, and a brand new additional concept scheduled to hit the market early in the New Year will see it push on again. New product innovation will continue to be the mainstay of the company ethos. Supporting the strength of the product range is the strength of the Liniar infrastructure. We have invested significantly over the past 18 months in a brand new on-site warehouse to provide logistical efficiency and great customer service, we have developed and invested in a state of the art foiling plant to ensure that we can meet customer demand as the trend towards coloured windows and doors continues to grow and we have also recently opened the largest, most technologically advanced mixing plant in the UK. All of these measures are designed to support our existing customers as we help them to grow and to act as the foundation for Liniar’s future market expansion. Getting ready for expansion Part of that future expansion will come from the recent purchase of the Zoom Ready conservatory roof business. Our intention is to take what is already a fantastic product range, then improve it with great new ideas not seen before in the industry. It is also our intention to develop a sales, marketing, and customer support strategy to make Liniar Zoom a significant player in its sector of the industry. Our machinery division will continue to grow organically by doing more of what it has done so well over recent years in supporting fabricators. More importantly, our expansion plans will introduce into the UK the latest concept in machining centres, designed by the Liniar team with the same innovative thinking behind them that we have always put into our PVC-U system developments. Market leading marketing My aim is to meet with the Liniar customer base as often as I can, to listen to what they are telling us is important to them, and to directly support them with marketing strategies and collateral in line with their requirements. Technology developments in recent years have given us an ideal opportunity to engage more frequently with customers and really listen to their needs. Online platforms are all about collaboration and sharing, and we’ll be doing more of that for the benefit of our customers, including the use of email to get the news out there more quickly and easily. If we get this right, our customers, their customers, and we as a systems company will all benefit as a result. FIT for market leadership In June 2014, we will once again be playing a major role in the FIT Show. Our statement will be clear as we have doubled the size of our stand next year and will be showing every aspect of our business to the industry. We fully intend that, by the time of the show, we will be recognised as one of the true market leaders in the PVC-U systems sector which, just six years after the brand was launched, will be a remarkable achievement. “I also believe that I have joined the best systems company in the industry”
