Systems & Profiles A system for all reasons After three decades developing its product range, Synseal claims that its portfolio is so extensive that the company really can be considered as a ‘one stop shop’. SynerJy multichamber window with PTR Anyone in this industry who has ever been tempted to believe ‘a window is a window is a window’ really should think again, according to Synseal. For more than 30 years, the company has been developing, refining and expanding its product range in order to anticipate any application in any market sector and, as a result, it has a portfolio of products that places the manufacturer as far as imaginable from the ‘one size fits all’ philosophy that some in the industry may find adequate. It boasts no fewer than three window systems plus conservatory, orangery and portal roof systems and a range of fully manufactured and CE Marked vertical sliding windows and specialist niche market doors – not to mention high performance and climate control IGUs and hardware. In fact, it really would be easier to list what Synseal does not have. At the core of the range are the three 70mm PVC-U window systems: the original and everpopular Shield with its clean, chamfered lines, the stylish and elegant j-form sculptured curves of SynerJy, plus Legend, originally designed for the stringent demands of the commercial sector but also proving equally at home in domestic retrofit. For specialist products, the Evolve fullymanufactured VS sash windows, bi-fold and patio doors are built to order, giving quality 58 December 2013 solutions in these three valuable niche areas. Alongside its tried and tested Global conservatory roof, Synseal has added the Global Summer system, which has been designed to give the look and style of an orangery, including a signature external decorative fascia, without the upheaval and expense of a fully structural traditional orangery. The more recent integration of K2 into the Synseal stable provides further customer choice and versatility to the conservatory offering. Skyspace portal frames also deliver cost-effective support solutions for wide-spanning glazed roof assemblies. That term ‘one-stop shop’ may have been desperately over used in recent times but Mark Schlotel, Synseal’s head of marketing, claims it was never more appropriate than with the company’s range: “We have always recognised that no two applications or industry sectors are alike in their requirements and we have built a range of products that are tailored to meet the needs of each. We are very proud to say that, as a result, anyone choosing to work with Synseal products should never have to look anywhere else. I believe there are few, if any, in our industry who could match that range.” The offering may be complete but Synseal and its products are constantly evolving, enabling fabricators and installers to keep ahead of the market. One of the biggest developments recently was when the manufacturer became one of the first to gain the BFRC A+ and Certass A* accreditations for its entire range of SynerJy, Shield and Legend systems and the Evolve VS windows, offering double glazed and triple glazed options without the need for further testing and giving installers of all the systems a valuable selling tool to the cost-conscious and environmentally aware consumer. Users of increasingly popular foiled PVC-U window profiles gained a further boost to the thermal efficiency, as well as economy, when Synseal was awarded BBA approval for the use of 100% recycled Plastic Thermal Reinforcements (PTRs) in foiled frames, making a ‘U’ value of 0.8 W/m²K possible with triple glazing and 1.2 W/m²K with double glass, and at a lower cost than steel. In the commercial market, the highly versatile Legend system continues to live up to its name, proving tough competition not only against other suppliers’ PVC-U systems but even against other materials, as installers have discovered recently when Legend won a contract on a significant cost margin but without compromise on quality, even where composite windows had originally been specified. Also, of course, in a specification market sector where green credentials are more important than ever, Legend is available in a 100% recycled option. Mark Schlotel concluded: “We believe that Synseal customers are better placed than any to make the most of a range of trusted and respected products all from one source.” “no two applications or industry sectors are alike in their requirements” Treharris Merthyr Care Home features Synseal’s products
