New vans on the road to growth Glazerite says it is keeping ahead of ‘ever-growing demand’ with a bigger fleet and more efficient trucks for 2014. The first of the new vehicles, a Fuso Canter 7.5 tonne, reportedly impressed the fabricator so much with its ‘lightweight body and increased load capacity’ that it immediately ordered a second – and it may not be long before it plans on adding more. Record sales throughout 2013, combined with increased orders for bigger, heavier products, meant the existing fleet would soon have been at capacity, said director Jason Thompson, and therefore the additional vehicles were ‘essential to uphold the company’s reputation for service and quick turnaround’. “When we deliver to every part of mainland Britain at least once a week, our customers quite rightly expect us to be able to meet deadlines. Also, much of our growth in demand has been in heavier products such as VS, bifolds, composite and patio doors. The Canters have 30% more payload than some of our existing fleet so will cope with that easily. “We now produce over 2,400 frames a week and the extended fleet will provide us with a delivery capacity in excess of 3,000 frames per week. But the way things have been growing over the last couple of years, we really can’t say how long it might be before we are looking to extend again.” www.glazeritewindows.co.uk 68 December 2013 Worth the wait for membership In Brief ‘How To’ installation video Rugby Double Glazing is right on cue with its sponsorship of a local snooker club The Rugby based company was sponsor of the local 'Rugby Double Glazing Premier Snooker League', which is backed and endorsed by Mark Pawsey MP. Director, Simon Wade, who attended the nail-biting end of season final to present winner Andy Brough with the prize explained: “The local snooker club was set up to assist people in the Rugby area with learning difficulties, helping teach basic skills such as maths, English and communication, whilst playing snooker in a relaxed environment. The club, which meets weekly at a local sports bar, is a great success in our local area and offers a great support for those that need it; we are thrilled to help in any way we can.” Having sourced a snooker cue, autographed by Steve Davis, which was auctioned off to raise funds for the club, the installer company also supplied trophies and a monetary prize for the winner. When Workington based The Window Outlet decided it wanted to join Network Veka, the installer was disappointed to hear that there was already a member in its area, meaning it would have to wait before it could join. Two years later, the existing member company unfortunately ceased to trade, but this opened up membership for the Workington postcode area, and in turn, The Window Outlet. Director, Annmarie Pritt, explained: “One of the main reasons we wanted to join Network Veka was because of the 10 year insurance backed guarantee, which is a huge selling tool for us, as our customers are reassured that their products and deposits are protected. “When we looked in to joining, there was another company registered in our town, so we weren't able to join up, but we applied again after the mentioned company went in to liquidation, and haven't looked back since. Our first year has been fantastic, there is a lot of support and advice available to us from the Network Veka team, and the insurance work we have carried out has boosted our sales by 25%. To say we are happy would be an understatement! “Homeowners like the fact that we have been vetted before being allowed to join Network Veka, and this peace of mind has allowed us to complete a lot more domestic installations.” www.networkveka.co.uk A new ‘How To’ video from Safedoors has been created to assist tradesmen, experienced DIYers and self-builders with installing a composite door. Just under three minutes long, the video gives a step by step guide to fitting the new door as well as removing the existing door and frame, coupled with ‘handy hints and tips’. It has been designed to answer frequently asked questions and help avoid common mistakes. “When it comes to installing composite doors there’s a whole new set of rules,” said Safedoors sales director, Adrian Wyatt. “Unlike timber doors, composites are pre-hung, and so there is no need to remove the door leaf before fitting. So while an experienced timber door fitter should be able to turn his hand to installing composite doors without too much trouble, we still get asked questions, and this video goes some way to addressing those.” To watch the ‘How To’ video, log on to: www.safedoors.co.uk or visit the Epwin Group stand at the Building Centre in London.
