Profiles & Systems “And it’s not building. Technal’s facade systems were polyester powder coated in dark grey to contrast with the white render. Commenting on the glazing specification, Russell Curtis, project architect at RCKa Architects, said: “The original building had deteriorated badly and had limited architectural quality. Our aim was to create a new wing that would enhance the appearance of the site, create a more sustainable, productive working environment, and better reflect the values of De La Rue as a leading global research organisation.” “Technal’s facade systems met our requirements for cost efficiency, consistency of appearance, aesthetics, thermal performance and the Geode- MX62 curtain walling option could achieve large spans with narrow sight lines to maximise natural light. We are very pleased with how the fenestration solution has unified both the existing and new elements of the building.” “Technal’s assistance with the specification made the facade design process very straightforward, despite its complexity, and we are very happy with their team’s technical input.” just us who benefit… they support our customers too. Kommerling’s new suit of Armour ” Kömmerling has recently added Coventry-based Armour Windows to its expanding UK network of window and door manufacturers, the company reports, as it continues to gain market share with its ‘highly energy efficient’, five chambered systems. Armour Windows may well be relatively new when it comes to manufacturing, but within the business are said to be a number of key personnel with considerable experience within the industry, at both manufacturing and installation levels. Armour Windows, which has been installing windows and doors for over 10 years, believes that a move into manufacturing will afford greater flexibility and control over the finished product. Operating across the Midlands, the company is now manufacturing the Kömmerling ovolo O70 Gold window and door system, alongside the PremiLine patio door and bi-folding door. Armour Windows stated that the hands on expertise of Kömmerling’s area sales manager, John England, the wide variety of foils from stock, including single lengths, and the premium quality and heritage of the brand were the key reasons to introduce Kömmerling into the business. The company has already started to offer triple glazed windows within its range and there’s also a 24-hour fast track facility for urgent orders, to support the local installer market. Wayne Curley, managing director of Armour Windows, commented: “Kömmerling was by far and away the best option, from the expertise of John to the overall quality of the product. In all we’ve had a great start in manufacturing with their support and the prospects for the future look very good.” John England, area sales manager of Kömmerling, concluded: “It’s great to see companies coming into manufacturing in the industry, particularly with the expertise of Wayne and the team behind it all. They’ve quickly got into their stride on the manufacturing side and now the sales are starting to come in regularly and good luck to them”.
