Bi-fold door market to rise in 2017 Following the growth of the bifolding door market over the past few years, an aluminium manufacturing and installation company claims this trend is set to continue into 2017, with the demand for quality bi-fold doors only increasing. AB Glass, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in November 2016, has noted a significant rise in requests for aluminium bifold doors on numerous projects the company has been involved with over the past two years. These include Howell's School, Cardiff; Coleston Hall, Bristol; St Anne's Primary School, Westernsuper Mare; and the Marine Towers Observatory, Swansea. The company suggests bi-fold doors' popularity is a result of the contemporary design, light and durability these light-weight aluminium doors offer. AB Glass' experience of the booming bi-fold door market rings true with research undertaken by AMA Research. Continued growth According to its Bi-fold Doors Market Report, current forecasts indicate steady to good growth into the medium-term with the bifold doors market growing by around 7% per annum to 2020. The research also showed growth in the commercial office sector, where bi-folds have increased in use as interior doors, as they offer natural light and can be tailored to enable rooms to be easily expanded. Alan Brayley, MD of AB Glass, says the company has had to make provisions for the continued growth in demand for bi-fold doors: “The bi-folding door market is extremely healthy. Both the residential and commercial sectors are using them for the modern look they give, but as they are made with aluminium, customers are getting a very high quality product that lasts for decades. “We have installed them on projects such as private house builds, schools and commercial properties looking to merge indoor and outdoor spaces.” 40 DOORS & COMMERCIAL ENTRANCES Rustic Renown range released Distinction Doors has launched five door designs that it says reflect traditional cottage charm: the solid Retail Cottage door slab and four glazed door designs in the Rustic Renown collection. Chantel Roach, Distinction’s marketing director, said: “Our Retail Cottage door and the doors in the Rustic Renown collection have all the beauty and quality you’ve come to expect from Distinction Doors. I think fabricators will particularly value the prepainted glazing cassette that comes as standard in the Rustic Renown collection doors. It means the door and the glazing cassette match perfectly for a seamless finish that’s a first for the market.” According to Distinction, it is usual for composite door slabs and glazing cassettes to be painted separately, which can lead to a difference in colour that detracts from the overall kerb appeal of a door. Having a prepainted cassette as the doors in the Rustic Renown Collection do, reportedly helps to create a much more sophisticated end result. The Retail Cottage door slab and Rustic Renown doors are available in three trimmable sizes. They are manufactured from Thermoset GRP (Glass Reinforced Polyester) and have stiles and rails composed of water-resistant polymer which is bonded to the skin and filled with an insulating core of 100% CFC-free polyurethane for ‘exceptional’ weatherfastness. They also feature Distinction’s signature oak woodgrain effect finish. The doors in the Rustic Renown collection are the Rustic Renown, Rustic Renown Mid, Rustic Renown Top and Rustic Renown Diamond designs. There are six standard colours; white, black, gold oak, rosewood, Chartwell and anthracite grey. Bespoke colours are also available. www.distinctiondoors.co.uk Strong sales for Endurance Plus Just a matter of months after launching Endurance Plus, the company says it has already enjoyed a strong sales start with a number of new customers coming on board for its new premium composite door offering. Existing customers are also said to be reporting a ‘remarkable performance’. Endurance Doors is now claiming to be the fastest growing composite door company in the sector. Endurance Plus is said to be the first in a ‘new breed’ of composite door solutions in the 70+mm frame category. According to Endurance, it boasts several enhanced features that help to make it the ‘thickest, strongest and most secure’ composite door offering in the sector. Endurance Plus benefits from a 75mm, 6-chambered Eurocell Modus outer frame with a triple seal and incorporates a newly developed 56mm slab that harnesses the industry’s only BBA certified core, using Kerto LVL timber. There’s also the incorporation of a unique Moisture Barrier System (MBS) to the base of the slab to eliminate any risk of water ingress and subsequent slab delamination. www.ggpmag.com February 2017 With Secured By Design as standard, security is bolstered by a new five point multi locking system from ERA, along with Avocet’s ATK 3 Star Diamond cylinder, which is offered with a £1,000 security guarantee. Four SFS Dynamic 2D hinges are also specified for lasting performance and triple glazed units are incorporated in all door styles. Stephen Nadin, MD of Endurance Doors, commented: “The interest in Endurance Plus has already exceeded expectations, with a very strong sales start. Customers know the inherent quality of our products and now with the marketing collateral to support this, we believe that 2017 will be another year of incredible growth for our standard and premium solid and secure composite door offerings.” www.endurancedoors.co.uk
