SPOTLIGHT Revolutionary Roseview After enjoying a record year in 2016, Roseview Windows is looking forward to an even more momentous 2017 – a year that also marks its 40th year in business. Sash window manufacturer, Roseview Windows, has gone from the most momentous year in its history straight into a landmark birthday. In 2016, the company exhibited for the first time at the FIT Show, reported a ‘stunning success’ from the launch of an upgraded version of its already hugely popular Ultimate Rose, and topped it all off with a G Award for its commitment to customer service. 2017 will mark Roseview’s 40th birthday – and the company says it’s shaping up to be even bigger and more successful than the year that preceded it. After 40 years in business and 32 years of making sash windows, Roseview enters 2017 as a beacon business, respected throughout the industry for its dedication to quality, authenticity, and constant innovation. According to Roseview, in a market increasingly filled with super-fabricators fixated with the bottom line, the company stands out as a firm that’s driven by its values – a passionate commitment to tradition and conservation – and the hard work and dedication of 85 employees who love what they do. “To us, it’s not just business – it’s a way of life,” says marketing manager Mike Bygrave. “It’s not just about selling windows – although we obviously do plenty of that! It’s also about preserving something beautiful and valuable. The classic timber sash window was and is a stunning, timeless design – and we’re motivated in everything we do by the desire to make that traditional aesthetic available to modern homeowners, coupled with all the performance benefits of modern materials.” Four decades of innovation According to Roseview, it was there at the very beginning of the product area it would later come to be so well known for. In 1985, the company claims to have produced “In 1985, the company claims to have produced the first PVC-U vertical sliding sash window in the UK” the first PVC-U vertical sliding sash window in the UK – and quite possibly, the world. In the three decades since, it’s been a major driving force behind a sash window renaissance that’s seen a onceobscure product become one of the market’s most lucrative niches. Today, there are a wide range of products available. But while the rest of the industry joins the timberalternative revolution, Roseview says that it continues to push boundaries. In the past few years its innovative approach to product development has seen it evolve from a traditional window fabricator, into something much more proactive. “Most fabricators just assemble – they take the profile components a supplier provides them with and turn them into finished windows and doors,” Mike explains. “We did it ourselves for years. But we reached a stage where it was acting as a limit on our ambitions. We wanted PVC-U sash windows with authentic runthrough sash horns and true mechanical joints. Our suppliers had other priorities. So, in the end, we decided to do it ourselves – to manufacture our own key components and produce windows that were still based on Eurocell and Rehau profiles, but with elements unique to us.” Today, those products are regarded by many as the pinnacle of vintage-look PVC-U. A birthday to remember If Roseview made major strides in 2016, its plans for 2017 are no less ambitious as a result. “Forty years in business is a massive achievement – and we intend to mark it in style,” says Mike. “The celebrations will come in two key parts. The first big date in our calendar is May’s FIT Show. Our first appearance last year was brilliantly successful for us – we walked away with significantly boosted brand awareness and a rush of new leads. This year, it’s going to be bigger in more ways than one. Firstly and most obviously, it’s at a different venue – the Birmingham NEC, the biggest and best exhibition venue in the UK. But we’re also going all out on our stand – it’s not only going to be much larger than last year’s, but it’s in a fantastic position too.” “Then, later in the year, we’ll be marking our 40th back home in Buckinghamshire. Stay tuned for more details nearer the time – but we’ll be inviting friends and partners from throughout the industry out to Olney for a party to remember!” While these two events are likely to be the highlights of Roseview’s 2017 calendar, celebrations will be ongoing throughout the year, with plenty of opportunities to participate, learn more about heritage and conservation, and find out the latest developments from the UK’s finest sash window fabricator as it celebrates its 40th year. 58 www.ggpmag.com February 2017
