Smart display at Ecobuild Smart Architectural Aluminium has announced that it will be showcasing the full breadth of its product range at Ecobuild, with displays focusing particularly on its product solutions for the refurbishment sector. The company says that a number of new window and door systems for both residential and commercial applications are being launched at the show, as well as a new range of highquality hardware. The Alitherm Heritage range will reportedly feature strongly in Smart’s main display, with curved windows, French doors and screen systems brought together to demonstrate the ‘flexibility and elegance’ of this art-deco style suite of products. Alitherm Heritage is said to combine the classic style and slim site lines of traditional steel products, with the performance and thermal benefits of modern aluminium systems. Elegant and versatile Visofold 6000, Smart’s completely new ‘slide and stack door’ will also be unveiled at the show. According to Smart’s, the door’s slim sight lines (typically just 84mm) and ‘inconspicuous’ hardware, make it an elegant and versatile option. The company’s new Visoglide Plus door will also be featured. Designed with slim profiles and delivering ‘exceptional’ thermal performance, the new ‘lift and slide’ door can be locked in any position – from closed to fully open. Smart’s managing director, Eddie Robinson, said: “Ecobuild provides a great platform for us to launch these new systems. However, as well as the new windows and doors, we are also delighted to be launching our new Quantum range of high quality steel hardware. A great addition to our portfolio, and providing the perfect finishing detail to our systems, the Quantum range combines elegance with robust, long-life performance and is available in any of our finish options – allowing the hardware to be colour-matched to the door or window system.” 60 E N E R G Y E F F I C I E N C Y Iso-Chemie to showcase Passivhaus sealants Effective sealing solutions for Passivhaus construction will be the theme of foam tape producer, Iso- Chemie, at Ecobuild 2017. Winframer is said to be a structurally solid, pre-fabricated installation frame manufactured in a range of variations and sizes, enabling it to be cut quickly to length on site and secured in position using a single component adhesive and, if necessary, fixing screws. Also set to feature will be the Iso- Bloco 600 sealing tape, T-Max (for covering differential movement up to 36mm) applications, HB Band sealing strip for timber frame houses, and the newly available self-adhesive Vario SD/XD Complete and Complete Duo range. The latter is said to provide improved installation of humidity variable window and facade sealing foils, and can be installed as low as - 10°C. Iso-Chemie will be exhibiting on stand D103 at Ecobuild 2017 Andrew Swift, national sales manager for Iso-Chemie, said Ecobuild will enable architects interested in Passivhaus certification, airtightness and thermal bridging to understand better the latest foam tape sealing solutions. The firm is also introducing a new seminar for architects, which counts towards CPD hours, explaining airtightness in construction sealing joints and www.ggpmag.com February 2017 options for its improvement. “The sustainable design, construction and built environment can benefit from the latest generation of advanced sealing tapes,” said Andrew Swift. “We can help the construction and building sector to meet energy saving standards, with environmentally friendly products for renovation, new build, self-build and Passivhaus.” UNIVERSITY CHALLENGE: The BREEAM Outstanding engineering building at Lancaster University features a complete range of architectural aluminium glazing systems from facade specialist, Technal.
