98 I N S TALLAT I O N S ‘Cream’ of the crop Oldham based D&M Windows, a Veka approved installer with ‘extensive experience of large and prestigious installations’ has installed 66 windows and French doors, fabricated by The Glazerite UK Group, at a large bespoke private house in rural Cheshire, with cream/white foil as a special order. Based on the combination of cream foil out, white foil in, the house uses both straight and arched frames, with astragal bars as well as deep bottom rail and run-through horns for ‘maximum authenticity’. D&M managing director, Mark Hoolickin, said: “The client expected the best of everything and, with the help of the Veka system and Glazerite, we were able to deliver it, from product specification to the design and look of the finished product and of course, the finishing touches that make this VS so authentic looking.” Glazerite’s Peter Smith added: “This was an unusual choice of foil combinations but dual foil is becoming more and more in demand and we are happy to supply any combination across our entire range of door and window styles. This was just one aspect of the exact design and appearance that the client wanted and, as ever, D&M was able to meet all his expectations and we were more than happy to be on hand to help wherever needed.” www.glazerite.co.uk ‘Dipping and rising’ roof Roof Assured by Sarnafil has installed a self-adhered roof membrane on a ‘dream’ self-build home. Allen Green and his wife Jan, were originally looking for a retirement home, ‘with a little bit of land’, to be enjoyed by their family. The Greens bought a plot of land at auction not knowing at the time that it was in an area of geological interest and home to over 600 species of moths and butterflies. Preserving the integrity of the area has been important to Allen and Jan as enjoying their natural surroundings is a big part of their retirement plan. The ‘dipping and rising’ aesthetic of the 270m², overhanging wingshaped roof roof is said to complement the surrounding undulating woodland The Greens liked the idea of using a single ply roofing membrane because they wanted “a high performance, low maintenance, flexible, agile solution,” so they contacted Kevin Hodge, MD of County Flat Roofing (UK), a Roof Assured, Sarnafil registered installer, based in Weston Super Mare. Kevin said: “This is the first installation in the UK using the new lead grey self-adhesive Sarnafil membrane, developed and manufactured by Sika Sarnafil in Switzerland. The ease of application, flexibility and accessibility of the new membrane has allowed us scope to meet the complexities of this unusual roof design.” www.roofassured.co.uk/installer www.ggpmag.com February 2017 The Innovative and Thermally Efficient Profile System Designed to be Secure Secured by Design Steve McClelland Tooling Manager Secured by Design SBD Official Police Security Initiative #bepartofthefamily @SelectaSystems Systems Company 2016 Selecta Systems Ltd 0121 325 2100 www.selectasystems.com info@selectasystems.com
