30 NEW YEAR MESSAGES Mat Gibson, MD, Chase Taylor Recruitment Graeme Bailey, managing director, Business Micros www.ggp.com January 2015 Andy Jones, managing director, Edgetech UK Martin Randall, chairman, Crystal Direct Giles Willson, chair, British Fenestration Ratings Council We are very excited looking into the possibilities for the coming year. The market had a real feel good factor during 2014 and this is set to carry on. This can only be good for everyone and we all have to seize the opportunities that come our way. Business Micros recruited three new staff during the last quarter and we are continuing to add to the team as our market leader position strengthens and our customer base increases both at home and abroad. Business Micros’ continual product development in manufacturing and investment in quality people to provide a higher end service experience will benefit everyone. We look forward to the year ahead enthusiastically and wish everyone in the industry a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. 2014 was a busy year for construction and home improvements and most businesses have benefited. But after four years of recession, the sudden uplift in the economy has caught many on the back foot. We’ve seen product and skills shortages throughout the industry. During recession, many stopped investing in products, people, processes and plant for business growth, and waited for the storm to pass. But, we did the opposite and it has strengthened Crystal’s position. As the No.1 trade fabricator for choice and colour, we continuously invest in product, support and service improvements so our customers have all they need to grow, in good times and bad. Helping our customer installers stand out from competitors and making it easier for them to sell will remain top priorities in 2015. Wishing all our customers a Happy New Year! It’s rare for a business to span three decades and still have a strong consistent message at its core. But that’s what Edgetech UK has In 2014, we experienced a marked change in fortune for the glazing industry and the prospects for 2015 look strong, despite the distraction of a general election in May. With sales growth firmly back on the agenda, companies are already looking to recruit and with good reason. Getting the right people on board is more crucial than ever as companies across the industry all look to benefit from a return to sustained economic growth and increased consumer confidence. Consumers are looking to spend on energy efficient and value added products and this is a good thing for all of us. But like any sales focussed market sector, people are crucial and this has resulted in the growth of Chase Taylor, as we look to cement ourselves as the only true specialist recruitment and HR company for the glazing industry. But above all, we need to invest effectively to realise a better top and bottom line performance. BFRC predicts that the numbers of ‘A+’ and ‘A’ rated windows, as a proportion of total window installations, will carry on increasing. We also predict that the growth in the market of triple glazing will continue. We are also predicting that there will be an industry-led tightening up of the descriptors and claims about window energy ratings in advertising to minimise the risk of confusion or misleading claims being made. achieved. In its 25th year of trading, Edgetech continues to focus on ensuring that it is quick, easy and cost effective to make energy efficient sealed units with Super Spacer. Edgetech has always supported IGU companies with ways to make manufacturing and selling products easier. In 2014 we launched Super Spacer Alpha, TruSeive, TruFit and TruShield to help businesses differentiate themselves from their competitors and take advantage of the improving market. In 2015 we’re expanding again. We’re opening a new distribution centre in Burnley, and we’ll be extending Dealership to give customers even more support.
