48 DOORS & COMMERCIAL ENTRANCES Aluprof claims to have ‘cornered’ the sliding door market Aluprof says that it has now ‘cornered’ the sliding door market with its aluminium lift and slide door, the MB-77HS, which now offers the option of a 90° installation configuration. The new detail allows for the door to be installed at the corner of a building or balcony whilst still taking up little room and maintaining the high weathering capabilities and high insulation required in high rise applications. Equally at home in the residential home improvement market, the new 90° lift and slide door from Aluprof is said to be a cost effective option to a 90° sliding folding door with arguably a longer, trouble free life expectancy. The MB-77HS is configured in an ‘ST’ or ‘HI’, (standard or highly insulated) option and can be glazed with wide DG units, including triple glazing. Aluprof claims that thermal insulation from 1.4 W/m²K can be achieved. Aluprof also states that the MB- 77HS can be fully automated and used with a wide range of control systems. MB-77HS shares components with the MB-86 system which creates an aesthetic combination of MB-77HS doors with windows, using the same components in the fabrication process. Installed weather performance can achieve: air permeability, class 4, EN 12207, watertightness; class 9A, EN 12208 and wind load resistance; up to class C4, EN 12210. www.aluprof.eu/en/ Apeer launches fitting manuals Door manufacturer, Apeer, has produced two new guides to fitting its double rebate, triple glazed doors. With correct fitting said to be ‘critical’ to the performance of Apeer’s all-GRP composite doorsets, the new manuals cover installation of both the door and frame – and door and sidelight. Apeer marketing manager, Linda Tomb, said: “Because our doors are really robust products, they can require a little adjustment to ensure they are fitted correctly. Our Apeer 70 and MODO collections offer superb weatherproofing and insulation benefits which can only be optimised with correct fitting.” The manuals are now available for download on the Apeer website and hard copy formats are planned for next year, as are separate instructions for stable doors, double doors, toplights and arches. Said Linda: “The guides are designed to help seasoned fitters with step by step, illustrated fitting instructions to make the job easier for them – and to maximise benefits for the homeowner.” With an ‘A’ energy rating, Apeer composite doors feature a high density polyurethane core which is said to offer a higher level of strength and insulation compared to traditional doors. The double rebate system – a ‘lip’ on the vertical edge www.ggp.com January 2015 where the door meets the frame – adds additional draught protection by creating an internal secondary seal. www.apeer.co.uk The bold and the beautiful To celebrate ‘Marsala’ as Pantone ‘Colour of the Year 2015’, Decorative Door Products (DDP) by RegaLead has announced that this ‘rich, bold’ hue has been launched as the 26th pre-mixed DoorColour shade, which customers can either spray themselves or purchase a pre-painted door slab via partner-company, Macclesfield-based door specialist, DoorCo. The DoorColour system is a unique paint formulation designed specifically for use on GRP, ABS and PVC surfaces to allow coating of composite door slabs, cassettes and outer frames with the same material, ensuring colour consistency and improved painting times. Currently, 26 premixed colour shades are available from stock with a full range of support materials including colour charts and Konig touch up pens, waxes and sprays. For customers looking to offer a wider range of colour, a ‘mix on demand’ system is available with colour formulae for thousands of shades including the complete range of Farrow and Ball and RAL matches. Guy Hubble, joint MD at RegaLead, said: “The Pantone of the Year is a strong indication of colour trends. It is decided following 12 months of research and debate on colour trends from experts around the world and this has been reflected in previous years’ winners such as cerulean, aqua sky and radiant orchid. www.decorativedoorproducts. co.uk www.door-co.com.
