GGP January 2015

59 T E C H TALK www.ggp.com January 2015 across England and Wales. LABC registered systems should be accepted by all local authorities, but there is no guarantee that every building inspector will agree with each detail. This is why Prefix has an Approved Inspector, who can guarantee that all their inspectors will work to the same approval certificate, and can guarantee product compliance across all of England and Wales. What is the process for obtaining Building Control approval with JHAI and Prefix Systems? There are three options available to our customers: Option 1 – Go through JHAI directly, using the system approval certificate. Option 2 – Send your project form directly to Prefix Systems and we will manage the entire process for you. Option 3 – Go directly to your respective Local Authority Building Control department. The Prefix Garden Room roof is both structurally and thermally compliant with current Building Regulations. The local authority may request supporting calculations, which Prefix is happy to provide quickly and efficiently. Do you believe that, as an industry, we need to work closer with planning departments and Building Control? In short, yes. The industry in the past has not always had the best reputation, but by working closely with approved inspectors to recognised standards, we can show all those involved in our sector just how professional we have become and we’re taking an active role in the future direction and reputation of our market.
