ProSecure in less than a minute Mila is set to launch a new ProSecure hinge which it claims can be fitted faster than any other security door hinge on the market. The only hinge supplied in one piece ready to fit straight from the box, Mila confidently predicts that most fabricators will be able to fit the ProSecure hinge in less than a minute. It has carried out time trials on the new hinge under test conditions and has even posted a video on its website (www.mila.co.uk) showing just how easy the fitting process is. Part of what makes the new ProSecure so special, says Mila, is new Glider technology which the company has developed to allow the whole hinge to slide straight onto the frame in one complete piece. Virtually jigless, it just needs two holes to be pre-drilled in the frame and then, once it is in place, a captive sash lid pivots open to allow the concealed fixing datum to be screwed to the sash. For doors being fitted into low reveals, Mila states that the ProSecure can also be front fitted just as quickly simply by removing the steel hinge pin. Alongside the Glider technology, there is also a patented design feature for hinge adjustment which has been developed directly as a result of feedback from fabricators. The +/-5mm lateral adjustment is carried out from the front rather than from the side simply by lifting the sash cover and turning the Allen key 90º; and vertical and compression adjustment is also easily achievable. The ProSecure has been fully tested to PAS 24: 2012 and to the specification requirements of Secured by Design. It has also been salt spray tested to BSEN1670 grade 5 and to BSEN1935: 2002 Grade 12 achieving 200,000 cycles under 100kg load. It is available in eight suited colours to match the rest of Mila’s ProSecure door hardware range including polished and brushed satin chrome and white, brown and black, as well as five further popular door colours such as Chartwell green, anthracite, silk, cement grey and cream. Mila’s managing director, Richard Gyde, is confident that the new hinge will impress customers. He said: “We’ve proved under test conditions just how much time fabricators can save with the new hinge – in fact we’re promoting the ‘free time’ giveaway in our advertising for the product. For fabricators who are producing doors in any kind of volumes, the savings will be really significant.” 72 HARDWA R E & S E C U R I T Y BLADE.
