FABRICAT O R & I N S TALLER WORLD Yorkshire based trade fabricator, Dempsey Dyer, offers a fast track colour service, supplying its most popular foiled PVC-U windows to customers in just three weeks. Sales and marketing director, Peter Dyer (pictured), said: “When it comes to jobs for coloured windows, one of the biggest frustrations for installers is slow turnarounds. The customer could be desperate for work to start but with some fabricators offering up to six week lead times on foiled windows, this can cause major issues further down the supply chain. “Our profile supplier Deceuninck offers a fast turnaround on colour and thanks to our manufacturing set up we’re able to pass this speedy service onto our customers, in turn helping them offer a speedier service and more flexibility to their customers.” Windows are available on a three week lead time in the following foils: white, golden oak, cream white, nut tree, Irish oak, Chartwell green, anthracite, and black ash. “Installers let down by long lead times are missing out; colour is more popular than ever and our fast track service is helping installers take advantage of these opportunities,” added Peter. www.dempseydyer.co.uk 90 New ali factory for 2015 Lincoln based PVC-U and aluminium fabricator, Sternfenster, recently announced its plans to open a new factory exclusively dedicated to the production of aluminium windows and doors in 2015. The decision follows the continuous growth of the aluminium business experienced by the fabricator since entering this market, almost three years ago. Sternfenster’s managing director, Mike Parczuk, commented: “We’ve had very strong sales for our aluminium range over the last few years and it made sense for us to pursue this business opportunity. We have actually expanded our aluminium department several times in this period. At the same time, our PVC-U division is stronger than ever and keeps growing with the addition of new machinery and staff to supply the increasing demand. “The decision to invest in a brand new, 29,000ft² aluminium factory was made in order to achieve the necessary space to accommodate further growth.” The company has reported a 28% increase in the aluminium side of the business since January 2014. Mike added: “Our plans prove we’re in it for the long haul and our aim is to constantly supply our clients with high quality aluminium windows and doors at reasonable prices, and to satisfy their increasing demand whilst keeping our customer service levels up and our lead times down.” Moving the aluminium department will also enable Sternfenster to further expand the production for its successful Residence 9 window. Thanks to what is described as a ‘revolutionary development’ in R9 manufacturing, the fabricator’s sales for this product have recorded a reported 48% increase. Sternfenster claims it is the only UK fabricator to produce Residence 9 with a unique, seamless corner weld, as a result of ‘sustained investments’ in machinery. www.ggp.com January 2015 Hat-trick for HL in 2014 Specialist commercial installer The Window Company (Contracts) has been celebrating after it was named Installer of the Year at last year’s G-14 Awards. The Essex based company was a finalist in 2013 but scooped the trophy this time around after reportedly impressing the judges with its ‘impressive growth figures’, its ‘outstanding’ customer feedback and its ‘relentless’ attention to detail across every aspect of its operation. The company’s win was made even more special by the fact that one of its key suppliers, Polyframe, was also named Fabricator of the Year, creating a true ‘dream team’ for customers in the commercial sector. The Window Company (Contracts) MD, David Thornton said: “This is a fantastic achievement for us and one which I know will have a really positive impact on our future growth and expansion. “The win was a joint effort from everyone within The Window Company and it was a real joy to be able to share the moment with so many of our team. “Together, they have all made such a massive contribution to our success and they deserve huge credit and thanks for their commitment, enthusiasm and loyalty.” www.thewinco.co.uk Fast track colour Liniar’s trading company, Denby based plastic extrusion firm, HL Plastics, recently scooped a major national business award – while owner Roger Hartshorn (above) was also announced as one of the top 100 manufacturers in the UK. The Growing Business Awards are designed to give national recognition to SME and entrepreneurial success in the UK. Created by Real Business, held in association with Lloyds Bank and supported by the CBI, the awards have previously identified emerging businesses that have since become household names, such as Innocent Smoothies, EasyJet and LoveFilm. Accepting the award on behalf of HL Plastics at a recent ceremony and gala dinner at the London Marriott, Grosvenor Square, HL Plastic’s Emma Arrell (finance director) commented: “We're thrilled to have won this prestigious award, especially as the competition in this category was so strong. “The success of HL Plastics is not only down to the design of its innovative Liniar brand, but also to the 400-strong team who continually step up to meet the ongoing demands of our rapid growth. We're so proud to be a part of this great British manufacturing company and this award is for them!” During the same week, MD Roger Hartshorn was also announced as one of the UK’s ‘most influential individuals in manufacturing’ as part of The Manufacturer Top 100. The two awards marked a hat-trick for the HL team, which also took home the Derby Telegraph Company of the Year award in June. www.liniar.co.uk Installer of the Year
