NEW YEAR MESSAGES
Having had time to
digest the implications
of the General
Election in what has
been a clear and resounding victory for
the Conservatives, regardless of our respective
political persuasions, we have already experienced a surge in the
pound against the Euro and Dollar. The economic implications
of Brexit now look a little more complete, once we begin the
journey on 1 February, 2020 and as a strong global brand, we’ve
already got strategic plans in place to manage the future transition
Away from the political and economic thoughts and opinions,
our plans for 2020 remain bold and opportunistic after a very
strong showing in 2019 for both the re-ignited Kömmerling brand
and in our customer network which has grown notably over the
last 12 months. We will be building upon our award-winning
‘#ComeAlong’ campaign with our group corporate and social
responsibility programme this year.
‘Your Window to a Better World’ will take centre stage for us in
2020 and we will be combining our marketing campaigns with
several events through the course of the year. This will include
our first ever golf day and a unique trans-Europe car adventure,
which will culminate with a lap of the Nürburgring close to our
impressive Pirmasens facility in Germany.
While our corporate and social responsibility programme will
be centric in what we do from a communications perspective, we
will also be expanding our product range. 2019 was all about the
launch of our next generation Kömmerling 76 platform, but for
2020 we will be again investing in our Kömmerling 70 product
that has over the years, become a firm favourite for the trade.
There are also new additions to our PremiLine patio door
including the new pop out handle for our enhanced Pro
derivative, which incorporates a patented multi-point lock at the
interlock, with PAS 24 and Secured by Design accreditations. In
addition, there are new heavy-duty rollers, capable of supporting
80kg per sash and the launch of a revolutionary ‘soft-close’
Our marketing programme will also focus on the launch of
our new installer and trade counter initiative and we’ve already
started work on the new branding and support materials. The
initial phase of this may well tie in with Fensterbau, where we
will again dominate the European PVC-U systems sector with the
largest overall stand and the promise of well over 100,000 visitors
to the show.
From our investment point of view and in addition to our
marketing and product activities, we will be looking to formalise
our plans to open a UK extrusion plant to support our continued
growth. Now that the election is behind us, we will be able to
plan accordingly to further build the Kömmerling brand in the
UK market and invest in our valued customers.
The success of our Warmroof
system, which was recently
awarded the ‘Best Solid Roof
System’ at the inaugural Conservatory
& Orangery Awards rounded off 2019 in style and we look
forward to another year of growth with this and our other
award-winning systems and products.
Throughout 2020, we will continue to invest in our support
services for our customers, including further development of
our online designer apps. These new developments will aid our
customers to design and price for products on the go, making the
sales process easier and slicker.
But the designer is not only a very useful pricing tool, we can also
provide our customers with the facility to plug the designer into
their own websites, fully branded to their respective company. This
is one of many marketing support initiatives we will be developing
during the year.
Our new showroom and product training facility is now fully
open for the benefit of our customers and over 2020 we will look
to roll out similar facilities across our other three branches in
Northamptonshire, South Wales and through Pavilion Systems
on the South Coast. Over the years we have evolved our product
“roughout 2020, we will continue
to invest in our support services for
offering and built on our expertise in roofing, aluminium systems
and products for the outdoor living market and now is the time to
showcase this portfolio better.
Our roots are firmly set in the roofing sector and it has been
a year in which we were voted best Conservatory Roof Fabricator
2019 in the National Fenestration Awards with 81.6% of the vote.
Hannah Gilrane, our marketing co-ordinator, also came away with
Social Networker 2019 in the same awards. The marketing support
programme will continue to thrive under Hannah’s stewardship
and our detailed level of customer care will again be a focal point of
how we look after our customers.
Investment will also continue in our production facilities at all
four sites, with new CNC machinery installed in 2019 at Pavilion
Systems, 2020 will see further CNC machinery investment at
Blackburn, alongside upgrades transport infrastructure, IT and
delivery POD systems. Continuous improvement of our service
and quality to customers is just as important as any new product
development and so our knowledgeable staff will continue to
ensure all our customers are given a first-class service experience
As we enter our 24th year as a business there may be challenges
for most of us, but that won’t detract from our lofty long-term
ambitions, nor those of our cherished customers.
