Senior delivers Pure luxury at Grantley Hall
Aluminium fenestration solutions
from Senior Architectural Systems
have helped ‘breathe new life’ into
the recently refurbished Grantley
Hall in North Yorkshire.
The Grade II listed building has
been sympathetically repaired,
renovated and extended to provide
luxury hotel accommodation and a
new build spa and wellness retreat.
The contract, which is reportedly
one of the largest engineering
projects to be completed in the
North of England, saw Senior’s

An ambitious and picturesque development

Hundreds of Victorian Sliders sash
windows have been installed at a
coastal housing development in
Seamill, West Kirkbride.
Just minutes from the Firth of
Clyde, and with dramatic views of
the Isle of Arran, the Chapleton
estate takes its inspiration from the
Scottish domestic architecture of the
17th, 18th and mid-19th centuries.
The range of two, three, four and
five-bedroom houses it encompasses
have been built from natural
materials to give them an authentic
feel – and housebuilder Hope
Homes is said to have wanted them
to have windows that complimented
that vintage character.
“We chose Victorian Sliders for
two key reasons,” commented Anne
Hope of Hope Homes.
“First, because the windows
balance the traditional aesthetics
we were looking for with modern
performance, and second, because
they were able to supply us with
high volumes at a consistently
high quality. The development
includes over 120 houses in all – 35
affordable, and around 90 privatelyowned
– and the vast majority
include Victorian Sliders windows.”
Andy Jones, Victorian Sliders
group MD, said: “It’s hugely
gratifying to see our windows
featured in such an ambitious,
picturesque development.
“We’re one of the only sash
window manufacturers in Europe
who could supply a development on
this scale, and we’re delighted with
the results.”
scheme.
Senior says that it has invested
heavily in this product range to
offer specifiers a range of solutions
that not only meet current
building regulations and energyefficiency
targets but can exceed
them. In addition to the slim
profile SF52 aluminium curtain
wall system which offers high
thermal performance, Senior adds
that it is also the only UK-based
manufacturer to have harnessed the
potential of expanded polyurethane
(PUR) as a thermal barrier in
aluminium doors and windows.
Through the creation of the Pure
system, which Senior holds a UK
patent for, some of the lowest
possible ‘U’ values can be achieved
and carbon calculations significantly
reduced. Products within the Pure
range include a variety of different
window types, from traditional
casement and tilt and turn to
reversible overswing and parallel
push styles, and a choice of door
options including the bifolding Pure
Fold, the patio style Pure Slide and
the new Pure Commercial door.
