People Two new appointments at hardware supplier John joins up John Tennant has joined Glazerite Windows as production manager. Joining Glazerite from Northshore Yachts in Sussex, prior to this Lowestoft-born John worked for various companies, including the Whiteline Group, where he was operations director. John, who has relocated from Haywards Heath, West Sussex, will be responsible for the main production facility at the company’s head office in Wellingborough. Glazerite director, Jason Thompson, said John’s experience and professionalism “will be a tremendous asset to the company in general, not just production. His appointment will strengthen Glazerite as a whole.” 16 March 2014 In brief • Deceuninck UK has welcomed Chris Jones as national sales manager. Roy Frost, MD of Deceuninck UK, said: “Chris joins from the Epwin Group bringing a wealth of senior sales and production experience, built through more than 30 years in the fenestration market.” Chris said: “I am delighted to join a successful business that has a very clear strategic growth plan, and I look forward to a very successful and enjoyable future with Deceuninck.” • Twenty five years after he started work on the shop floor at one of Rehau’s best known fabricators, Martin McCabe has joined the company as area sales manager for the south west. Martin, who believes that his long career in trade and commercial sales has given him the ‘perfect grounding’ for his new role, said: “I am certainly very excited to have reconnected with Rehau and to have joined a great team committed to delivering the very best customer service.” • Dr. Burghard Schneider has succeeded André Brütsch as head of the Bystronic Glass Group. In his position as CEO, he will automatically become a member of the Conzzeta AG management group. Schneider said: “I believe there are further sustainable options for manufacturing flat glass products that will yield many customer benefits. All of these can be achieved even more efficiently whilst still being of the highest quality, with Bystronic glass.” • Having raised more than £10,000 in 2013 for Help for Heroes, RegaLead, the decorative glass component supplier, has chosen to support Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity (RDMCC) for 2014. Guy Hubble, joint MD at RegaLead said RDMCC “really is a worthwhile cause, providing essential support for children and their families so that they can still enjoy a good quality of life and, importantly, manage to have some fun, despite their illness.” Alan voted in as regional chairman Alan Hyde, southern area sales manager for insulated glass component manufacturer and distributor, the Thermoseal Group, has been appointed as Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) regional chairman for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex region. Alan will chair regular regional GGF meetings and represent members’ interests within his region. He will also represent Kent, Surrey and Sussex in national meetings. GGF regional manager, Peter Stuttard, said: “With over 25 years in the glass and glazing industry and a comprehensive knowledge of insulated glass, Alan will most definitely be an asset to the GGF and our members.” Alan added: “I hope my position in the GGF will help current members within my area to have a point of contact directly within the insulated glass and glazing field. I hope I can help with any issues or concerns they may have within the industry, or guide them to the correct GGF correspondent who can.” Avocet Hardware has appointed Paul Collins as its product design and implementation manager. The Brighouse based business, which recently announced a further £2.1million investment from its owners, the Jain family, created the position in order to boost the company’s product development capabilities at a time when it says it is ‘pushing to re-establish its position as the leading player in the home window and door security market’. Dr Tinkle Jain, a director of Avocet, said: “Product design and development is a vital element of our strategy to position Avocet at the forefront the market and Paul’s extensive industry experience placed him head and shoulders above any other candidate.” Paul’s appointment follows the appointment of Karen Paskin, as business development manager for the Midlands, earlier this year.
