COMPANY PROFI L E
Family values
Jason Iasonos, managing director of Alpha Home Improvements, talks to GGP Magazine about how
high-quality service and products have helped to build a successful retail company.
I was introduced to the double-glazing industry
by my father, and one of the most important
lessons he taught me was how to really value
our customers. At Alpha Home Improvements,
we honestly appreciate everybody who rings us or
knocks on our door, whether they’re buying one
window, or replacing every casement in the house.
I set up the business 12 years ago and I did so
with perseverance, hard work and honesty, which
has always been important to me.
We are a small independent family run
business, and over the last four years we have
enjoyed significant growth. Building on the success
of our first showroom based at Hillier’s garden
centre in Hemel Hempstead has since allowed
us to open a second showroom in Codicote, a
purpose-built conservatory showroom that has
been designed to be sympathetic to the period
style properties in the local area.
One of the important strengths of Alpha Home
Improvements, is the fact that it is very much
a family business, one that is run by a team of
people who have a longstanding relationship with
the company. This means that we don’t hire in
external contractors, as we want our customers
to have the peace of mind that they are dealing
with a highly experienced team of people that

they can trust. Not all double glazing companies
are as scrupulous as us! For instance, I spoke to a
homeowner recently who had been quoted a price
for a conservatory job by another company, one
that included separate charges for the surveyor,
the fitters and the groundworks team. My advice
was to consider that, if something was to go
wrong, who would she approach to get it rectified
– far better, I suggested, to work with a company
that takes ownership of the entire project, from
start to finish…
When we work with our customers, one of our
main goals is to educate them not just on best
practice, but also to introduce them to the latest
products and innovations in order to help design
a conservatory that’s genuinely accessible all
year round. This involves a fact finding process,
taking into consideration exactly what a client is
expecting from their new living space, whether
they’re planning to use it as a dining room, play
room or sitting room, for instance. We will then
design a new conservatory that’s appropriate for
their needs, using detailed CAD drawings that will
ensure the finished article really does live up to
expectations. This is one of the reasons we place
such an emphasis on a high quality showroom
as it allows customers to see and get a feel of
Alpha Home Improvement's office and showrooms are
also conservatories – the perfect example of how the
latest products can create a year round living space
products, rather than just look at a picture in a
brochure. Our showrooms and even our office
are conservatories, and are the perfect example of
how the latest conservatories really can be used
6 days a year.
And thanks to the growth we have enjoyed,
we have also now introduced a market stall in St
Albans – people can now take a closer look at the
high quality, energy efficient, innovative products
that we offer when they’re out and about doing
their shopping! We also take every opportunity
to highlight the fact that we are a Which? Trusted
Trader, are Neighbourhood Watch Approved as
well as being registered with Checkatrade and
FENSA.
Ultimately, while we are a small fish in a big
pond, we are very proud of our achievements –
which to date include work for the commercial
director of the national football team and an
installation at the Jewish museum in Camden
Town –not to mention the quality of our home
refurbishment projects.
The high standard of our work, our service and
the premium quality of all the components we fit,
have helped to build an enviable reputation, one
that I believe helps us to stand head and shoulders
above the competition.
