You can’t go wrong with a classic,
whether that’s an Aston Martin DB ,
The Beatles’ ‘Abbey Road’ or Michael
Caine in ‘The Italian Job’. Giving
us style, performance and a hint of nostalgia,
classics stand the test of time. That’s why
heritage styling has come into its own, yet again.
The new heritage takes design cues from
steel-framed glazing and uses energy efficient
aluminium frames to create high-performance
replicas.
Customers who joined us for our
Trade Customer Conference will recall that we
predicted the trend for steel-look glazing, and
Emily Ostler from Granit Architects shared how
they used steel-look glazing in their designs. They
were utilising the heritage look to add interest
to double-height windows, with the styling then
reflected internally too. They were also using
steel-look glazing for large extensions on the back
of Victorian Villas, with the windows and doors
perfectly reflecting internal design cues such as
reclaimed bricks and steel columns.
As we know, trends from high-end projects
like this trickle down, until owners of s
semi-detached properties, post-war homes
and the estate houses of the 8s and s
want the high-end look for their homes. After
our conference, we started to see heritage
everywhere – at the Kitchen, Bedrooms and
Bathrooms shows in the form of shower screens
and internal partitions, as well as home design
shows on television. Whilst we already had a
heritage product in the Everglade Windows
range, we knew that this trend would be in high
demand, and a perfect fit for the impressive aïr
brand.
The real magic with heritage style windows
and doors is that they don’t put any limits on
interior design. Heritage lends itself to so many
trends, whether that’s classic art-deco styling
with geometric shapes and high-gloss furniture
or ‘New York loft’ styling with industrial lighting
and bare brick. They also look stunning against
trending pastel shades like muted pinks and cool
greens, but equally, complete dramatic rooms
with dark, bold colours, luxurious textures, and
detailed prints. Outside, heritage windows and
doors suit all home types and finishes – classic
brick, local stone, white render or even painted
walls, bringing elegance and style. New and old,
contemporary and traditional, heritage styling
will never fade.
That’s where aïr MOD Heritage comes into
its own. It’s the perfect system to deliver slim
sightlines and the classic heritage astragal bar
detailing, with modern performance values.
Developed in house and launched in
, we
took a holistic approach to the engineering of aïr
MOD-Series, creating five impressive window
products from one, exclusive system – MOD
Contemporary, MOD Flush, MOD Heritage,
MOD tilt and turn – and a first-of-its-kind MOD
Heritage Flush.
In turn, this makes the whole system easier for
customers to sell, survey and install. There is just
one system to get familiar with for selling benefits
to homeowners and one easy technical manual
for surveyors and installers.
Aïr MOD Heritage has the performance to
back-up its impressive aesthetics. Security is
covered with PAS
and SBD certification, but
it is the thermal performance that really ‘wows’
homeowners.
MOD Heritage has ‘U’ Values from just . w/
m2K – an incredible number that was crucial for
us to achieve in testing because we understand
that performance cannot be sacrificed for the
sake of style. Aïr MOD-Series perfectly blends
form and function. It offers the high specification
standards that the aïr brand is known for and the
high-end design styling that homeowners and
architects want from their glazing choices.
We’re already seeing the transformation that
aïr MOD Heritage is making to homes. For highend
projects where homeowners are looking
for window designs with wow-factor, aïr MOD
Heritage is the only solution. It's a true classic in
window design.
The new heritage
Aïr brand ambassador, Jay Patel, talks about the 'new heritage' and the
exclusive product range that’s been launched to help installers take full
advantage of the trend.
