Tap into growth with Leka Systems
With the shift in how today’s consumers use a conservatory, Rhys Hoddinott, managing director
of Leka Systems, discusses how the company’s roofing solutions open up clear opportunities for
fabricators and installers.
L et’s face it, the retail landscape is
very different post lockdown than it
was before. At the start of the year,
fabricators and installers were selling
conservatories as an additional room to enjoy the
garden and blur the lines between the house and
home. Jump forward nine months, and the uses
for a conservatory are very much different with
more homeowners now looking at them as the
new home office.
As offices start to reopen following the
lockdown, more people than ever are choosing to
work from home for the foreseeable future. Both
employees and employers have seen that home
working is a viable option and with the digital
transformation of working now with us, few people
expect a full return to the office at least in the
short to mid-term.
This is good news for fabricators and installers
as this new way of working is already opening up
significant opportunities. Firstly, many of today’s
conservatories may not be suitable to be used
full-time due to the age-old problem of being
too hot in summer and cold in winter. Before
lockdown, we had already seen a huge take-up for
replacement conservatory roofs with our solid roof
solution and this appetite has grown exponentially.
Updating a conservatory with a solid roof
has become the most popular way to making a
conservatory habitable and represents an excellent
opportunity for installers and fabricators. This
trend is supported by recent market data that
confirmed that % of fabricators and installers
agree that solid conservatory roofs are beginning
to overtake the typical glazed conservatory roof
with a reported % split between replacement
conservatory roofs and new builds.
Here at Leka Systems, home of innovative solid
and orangery roof solutions, we have witnessed
continued growth in demand for solid roofs and
have now trained over installers to help them
get up and running with Leka products quickly.
This figure shows just how quickly Leka products
have proved their value in the marketplace.
Secondly, we recently introduced our new Leka
Xi conservatory wall and base system. This allows
fabricators and installers to tap into thermally
efficient home extensions or garden rooms – or as
we see today, the new home office. And due to its
intelligent design, they can be constructed in just
three to five days.
It’s a modular system that’s tailored to
homeowner and installer requirements and is
constructed using a Leka base, Leka walls and the
Leka roof system. There are three or four-sided
options, so that it can be used for both home
extensions and standalone garden rooms.
Our latest roofing innovation is the new Leka
Systems Skylights. It is a fully glazed unit with a
neatly finished surround that doesn’t need roof
bar caps and is available in any height. It also has a
maximum width of 8mm which offers flexible
alternatives to standard opening vents.
All products in the Leka stable have been
intelligently designed using innovative engineering
techniques with a unique construction that provides
a major unique selling point over other roofs on the
market today. But by far the most significant benefit
of our products is the speed and ease of installation.
This design feature was to allow an installer to
fit more roofs in a day. But in today’s changed
landscape, installers are finding it a gamechanger
as they can ensure they are spending shorter time
on-site at a customers’ home.
In short, Leka conservatory roofs are the
practical answer to create the living or working
spaces that homeowners’ now desire. Fabricators
and installers that highlight the advantages they
offer are best placed to capitalise on the market
opportunities. And as Leka Systems typically
increase a fabricator’s revenue stream by -% in
the first year, it’s an opportunity not to be missed!
