Yale hardware passes BBA certification

Yale has announced that both its Virage window handle and its Yale window hinge have once again passed the annual BBA certification process. The BBA certification is an industry recognised guarantee, proving the ongoing consistency of not only a product’s performance and quality, but also the manufacturing process. It is distinctive in that all certified products are not only subject to a QA assessment, but also must pass a full product and manufacturing process audit every year.

Grant Stratford, technical director for Yale Door and Window Solutions, said: “We are thrilled to have upheld the BBA certification for our Yale window hinge and Virage window handle for another year. Unlike the BBA assessment reports, where the products are assessed once and then no further evaluation is conducted for five years, the certification scheme inspects the product and factory on an annual basis.

“This tells the end user that not only have these products been independently tested, to ensure they conform to the required standards, but that our factory is regularly inspected too. This gives added peace of mind and confidence in the reliability and longevity of the hardware.”

The annual testing includes laboratory-based testing, online evaluation, product inspections, life expectancy assessment, quality management review and training review, which all need to be passed to a high standard. The Yale window hinge is a versatile solution that is proven to perform and suits a variety of applications. Alongside the repeated backing of the BBA certification, it is tested to BS 6375 parts one and two for window performance, tested to BS EN 1670 grade three corrosion resistance (96 hours) and is Secured By Design-compliant when fitted with Yale ancillary security devices. Yale offers a lifetime security guarantee*, for an additional level of reassurance to homeowners.
