Flush preferred by 62%

An independent survey of UK homeowners has identified an overwhelming preference for flush over standard casements, when considering replacement windows. The report, commissioned by the systems company Deceuninck, and carried out by YouGov, found that 62% of those surveyed said that they would choose a flush casement compared to just a third (33%) who would rather have the standard option.

While the survey results revealed a positive trend for flush across all age demographics, it was most popular with 35 to 44 year olds, with 69% of those interviewed stating they preferred it. By comparison, 28% of 35 to 44 year olds and 33% of over 55s said they would rather purchase standard casements. The report showed that flush casements were more popular for homeowners, regardless of the age of the property.

This latest data from the YouGov Deceuninck survey follows initial headline findings from the report that revealed 75% of homeowners said that choice of colour was important when considering new windows and doors (read more on that story, here.)

Rob McGlennon, Deceuninck’s managing director, said: “Consumer demand for premium products such as our Heritage Flush Sash continues, and with that, so does the demand for colour and finish. Combined, they are a key driver for growth at Deceuninck.

“Our Q1 2021 year-on-year figures are a reflection of that: we are 40% up on the same period 12 months ago,” he continued. “For some of our customers, sales of colour and foils now account for as much as 60% of their total output.

“Our customers are already well placed to benefit from this demand, thanks to our award-winning Heritage Flush Sash and our market-leading colour offer, with 30 colourways available from stock. The strength of the data from our independent survey, gives them an even greater advantage to capitalise on market trends and to win sales from the competition,” he concluded.
