Decorative door component specialist, RegaLead, has launched a new range of astragal bar kits thanks to a clever machining solution from Jade.
The cut-to-size astragal bar kits, with matching decorative glass, have been designed to create new heritage-look composite door glazing styles that mimic the aesthetics of individual glass panes traditionally found in Victorian and Edwardian door designs.
Guy Hubble, joint managing director at RegaLead explains: “There is growing demand for heritage inspired doors and we are always looking for ways to help fabricators take advantage of trends, without making significant factory investment or massively altering manufacturing processes.
“The idea was to create pre-cut, easy-to-fit astragal bar kits that were compatible with existing glazing cassettes, so that fabricators could easily offer a completely new style of heritage door.
“The problem lay in how we created the kits. We had multiple bars that needed to be cut to different lengths and milled in different ways to fit the existing cassette beading. We took the problem to Jade, sent samples and they came back with a really clever solution for us.”
Jade adapted their Astragal Bar miller to incorporate interchangeable blades for each bar profile, so that the multiple-bar kits could be prepared using just a single compact, portable machine.
“When RegaLead came to us with their predicament, we immediately recognised that our miller could be the answer,” added Jade director Adam Jones. “By using the existing machine, with multiple cutter inserts, it could easily adapt to the different milling requirements. It also means that if more bar profiles or milled end styles are ever required, the machine can be easily adapted to suit, offering great potential for RegaLead to grow its range of Georgian Bar kits in the future.”
Guy concludes: “Jade took away the pain, created a solution and enabled us to launch this great new product to the market. The miller is accurate, efficient and very well-engineered. It’s portable too, meaning that we can showcase our bar cutting capabilities to customers onsite and develop further product offerings – it completely future-proofs our astragal bar kit manufacturing.”
