Award-winning commercial Residence

R9 windows were specified for the development of Sewell Park Academy, Norwich – an installation job that was rewarded with a trophy for the Residence Collection: ‘Best Commercial Project’ at the 2021 G Awards. Sewell Park Academy is in a conservation area, and saw the specification of 170 R9 windows from the Residence Collection, manufactured by Tradelink and installed by local partner, Homelink Windows.

The project’s architect, Baily Garner, working for the Boudica Schools Trust, specified R9 due to its unique heritage characteristics, low maintenance features and superior performance, along with the added sustainability benefits of PVC-U. The main Sewell Park Academy building was built in 1929 and is a stately, symmetrical neo-classical brick building with stone details.

The school is a locally listed building, and so product type and material were paramount in the original project specification. Andrew Williams, of Boudica Schools Trust, said: “I chose Residence windows after searching for a product that matched our existing windows as near as possible, due to being in a conservation area and having certain restrictions placed on us by the local council.”

The G-Award for Best Commercial Project is one of several awards that the Residence Collection has enjoyed in recent years, as Sarah Hitchings, sales and marketing director, points out. She said: “The Residence Collection, and R9 in particular, continues to receive awards and accolades. Yet, this case study is a standout project, along with others that we have carried out with our manufacturing and installation partners in recent years. To receive a G-Award for Best Commercial Project, out of a very high calibre of finalists, is hugely rewarding and humbling for us, but this could not have been achieved without Tradelink and Homelink Windows, in particular.”

She continued: “Regardless of the award, it was a wonderful evening, doing what the industry does best in terms of celebrating and catching up. Congratulations must also go out to all the other worthy winners on the night.”
