Council estate revamped

CWG Choices installer, Install Direct, recently completed a renovation project for Harrow Council through main contractor, Thomas Sinden, using KBE’s award winning System 88 window system for the refurbishment of nearly 80 flats.

The ageing council estate on Francis Road, Harrow, has been given a new lease of life following a £2 million council investment programme, which included the installation of 104 aluminium clad, triple glazed KBE System 88 windows, supplied by CWG Choices. The system, which is part of Kömmerling’s product portfolio in the UK, is said to offer levels of energy efficiency down to 0.6W/m2K, and also provides ‘significant’ sound reduction.

The 88mm optimum frame depth for energy efficiency inherent in the KBE System 88, also allows for a standard triple glazing bead and there are a range of reinforcement options including foam-filled steels, along with standard UK hardware. The system is co-extruded with a Greenline leadfree skin, with a fully recycled internal construction. The external aluminium AluStar cladding option was used in this project, but there are also more than 40 other foiled finishes available.

Tony Jones, contracts manager of Install Direct, commented:

“This was a great project to work on, both from the resident’s point of view and also from our own, given the product we’ve installed. The KBE System 88 is an incredible piece of product design, that performs way ahead of standard UK window systems and is also easy to manage on site.”

Kevin Warner, head of sales and marketing for Kömmerling, concluded:

“We’re actively increasing our presence in the commercial sector and this latest job from CWG Choices and Install Direct shows what our impressive product range is truly capable of. We’re already experiencing an increase in demand from the commercial sector for our products, including the new AluStar solution for our C70 and O70 Gold systems.”
