Ali systems manufacturer to exhibit at BIM show

alukAluK (GB), the aluminium window, door and curtain walling systems manufacturer, will be presenting and exhibiting at BIM Show Live 2014, Manchester Central (23 -24 April).

According to the latest NBS survey, nearly three quarters (74%) of the UK respondents agreed that building information modelling (BIM) represents the ‘future of project information’ and 39% are actively using BIM on their projects. Most interestingly, 93% expect to be using BIM on at least some of their projects in five years’ time.

However, the survey also revealed that BIM is still seen as a relatively new concept that most people are still unclear about. “We understand that BIM modelling has a major impact on all of the construction industry,” said Russell Yates, managing director, AluK.

“For architects, the clash detection at early stages of the overall process means time and money can be saved in the later stages. For the contractor, it is the means to successfully deliver a project on time and on budget. We are dedicated to providing specifiers with the tools required to create outstanding buildings – we are the first aluminium systems manufacturer to offer a RIBA approved BIM CPD; we have also issued a complete range of BIM components for our capped curtain walling system, windows and commercial doors.”

At the event, AluK will be sharing its knowledge and expertise, demonstrating how to use its BIM components through a series of videos. The company’s stand can be found at Made Digital, a designated area for manufacturers supported by BIMstore. Steve Watkins, BIM coordinator at AluK, will be on hand to answer any questions visitors may have.

AluK BIM components are available to download, free, through the AluK website, along with CAD files for every product and full technical and performance specifications. CPD presentations can be arranged by contacting the AluK specifications team at projects@aluk.co.uk
