Distinction doubles sales of prepped doors

Distinction Doors has reported that sales of prepped doors supplied complete with the company’s exclusive glazed units, have more than doubled in the first half of 2019 compared with a similar period last year, with an increase of 109%.

Additionally, sales of glass units alone have grown by more than one third compared to a similar period last year. According to Distinction, this growth has come from customers who prefer to glaze the units themselves and also by fabricators that are choosing to glaze doors of other brands with the Distinction product. Distinction is reporting that buyers of Distinction doors enjoy the simplified logistics of a single source supplier whilst the large stockholding together with the breadth and depth of the range, also attracts interest.

Distinction’s ability to offer a full prepping, painting and glazing facility is responsible for the increased demand for prepped products, says the company. Additional shifts and investment in new equipment have all increased to deal with current and anticipated demand in the company’s glazing operation, with the number of glazing tables being doubled since May.

Distinction points out that the sales increases ‘more than justifies’ its decision three years ago to launch its own range of glazing units: “There has been a significant increase in the number of prepped doors that we sell with sales now accounting for 40% of our annual turnover, a figure that is increasing exponentially,” explained Distinction sales and marketing director, Chantel Roach.

“Within this it is clear that the quality of our glazed units has driven much of this growth, with increasing numbers choosing to have their doors prepped to include the glass once they have had the opportunity to examine the choice and quality.

“Of course, we are delighted that our glazed units are also attracting a lot of attention from fabricators currently using other door brands, who are also turning to Distinction for their glass.”
