Door manufacturer, Masonite International Corporation, has bought Door-Stop International, the UK composite door company.
Masonite, a manufacturer of interior and exterior doors for domestic and commercial markets, reportedly employs more than 7,000 people and sells to 70 countries from over 70 locations worldwide.
Masonite’s UK division operates from its 400,000ft2 factory, said to be ‘a landmark’ for drivers on the M1 in Barnsley, South Yorkshire.
“The UK composite door market is an exciting place to be,” said Robin Baker, general manager for Masonite UK. “Acquiring Door-Stop and its impressive online business model places Masonite into this market and positions us for further growth.
,“Not yet six years old, Door-Stop is a young company with noteworthy potential. It’s a significant addition to Masonite’s portfolio.”
Door-Stop’s Nick Dutton commented: “Masonite’s acquisition is an exciting new chapter. Door-Stop customers will benefit from Masonite’s immense knowledge, resources and experience, particularly in product development and innovation.
,“Masonite is a company that has doors at the heart of its culture, so I am delighted that Door-Stop is joining the Masonite family and becoming a part of its future. This should be reassuring to customers and potential customers who want long term supply relationships with a progressive organisation.”
As business unit director, Martin Dickie, a new addition to the Door-Stop team, will aim to ensure that Door-Stop ‘continues to grow and deliver on its promises to both current and future customers’. Martin has apparently been involved in the composite door industry for almost 20 years and is said to bring with him a wealth of experience and a ‘longstanding working knowledge’ of Door-Stop.
