Inca-redible fundraising by Sarah Ball

Braving altitudes of up to 4,200M, Balls2 Marketing’s communications director, Sarah Ball and her daughter Stephanie will be trekking the Inca Trail in Peru this May to raise money for Macmillan.

The 28-mile hike, through the lush cloud forests of the Peruvian Andes will bring them to finish at the mysterious lost Inca city, Macchu Pichu.

It’s all in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, the charity which gives practical support to people living with cancer. Both Sarah and Stephanie know just how important that is, as four of Stephanie’s friends have all been diagnosed with the same cancer, Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, over the last eight years.

“When Stephanie suggested doing something to raise money to support her friends, I had to help,” said Sarah, “I’ve always wanted to do the Inca Trail and raising money for Macmillan at the same time will make it so much more rewarding.”

Sarah and Stephanie have managed to raise £5,000 of their target amount of £8,000 through bucket collections, a Christmas raffle, a fundraising gig and donations from friends and family, but there’s still a way to go.

“We’ve been organising all sorts of money-raising events since we decided to do the trek and we’ve done really well. Now we’re looking for sponsorship for doing the actual trek so that we can hit our target of £8,000.”

Sarah and Stephanie will be in Peru in the first week of May. Follow their Peru progress on their Facebook page – Stephanie and Sarah’s big trek to Peru or go to www.justgiving.com/BigTrektoPeru to donate.
