Everybody loves the new Lumi window system from Apeer – this was the overwhelming message the exhibition team received during the Grand Designs exhibition in Birmingham at the beginning of October.

“Even before the show opened we had the other exhibitors jumping on to our stand to see what we were all about,” marketing manager, Linda Tomb, said. “Apparently, even during the build our guys were constantly asked about our windows.”

The exhibition organisers reported that the opening day was their busiest for 10 years, with some putting this increase down to the fact that trade visitors to the Build Show also gained access to Grand Designs.

“The show was almost too busy for our liking – we didn’t stop until Sunday afternoon!” Linda laughed. “It was very enjoyable and the new product has had a terrific second launch.”

Visitors to the stand were reportedly impressed by the seamless glazing effect, which has no profiles showing on the outside. Being an energy conscious lot, they also singled out the thermal efficiency of Lumi.

Many visitors are said to have showed keen interest in the black door, which was also displayed on the stand, with many saying that they would upgrade their front doors first, then return to the windows later. Apeer reported that the bi-fold was also well received as a separate product for renovations.

“The whole show felt so much busier than last year,” Linda said. “And people loved Lumi! Lots of people came on to the stand in the morning, walked round, and came back later for a second and third look in the afternoon.

“We are now swamped with quotes and leads, with projects coming from across the UK – from Truro in Cornwall, to the north of Scotland, with many more in between. We have rebooked for next year, which is a five-day show!”
