Master Fitters

David Keates and Jonathon Mountford of DK Windows were announced as the overall winners of this year’s FIT Show Master Fitter Challenge at the exhibition’s gala dinner, by celebrity host Nick Knowles.

The 2017 Master Fitter Challenge (MFC) included six teams competing to install windows, residential and bi-folding doors and a lantern roof in just two days. In what was declared the most professional competition yet, David and Jonathon prevailed to win a cheque for £5,000. The pair also won the prize for the MFC best bi-fold door installation.

The runners-up were David Shaw and Nathan Daw of Shaw Home Improvements who took home a prize of £3,000, also winning the lantern roof section of the event. The final cash prize of £2,000 was scooped by Dale Harrison and Colin Stubbs of West Yorkshire Windows, who also won the window fitting section. Mark West and Mark Hardy of Sherborne Windows won the residential door fitting section.

Products installed by the teams were fitted to specially built competition rigs that were designed to replicate real-life technical installation conditions. Products for the competition were supplied by FIT Show exhibitors, including AluK (bi-folding doors); Epwin (windows); Apeer (residential composite doors); and Atlas (lantern roofs). Edgetech’s new installation tape, Trufit, was also introduced as an additional test.
