Prepared for the next level

Phoenix DoorsPhoenix Doors, part of Masco UK Window Group, has increased its manufacturing space and invested significantly in new production machinery to take the company’s GRP composite door manufacturing capability to the next level of growth.

This includes an SCM CNC Tech Z2 52D machining centre, which joined two existing single-bed units at the company’s enlarged GRP composite door manufacturing site in August. An additional edge bander is due to be delivered later this year.

Capable of prepping two doors in tandem, the Tech Z2 adds greater precision and flexibility to the company’s weekly production capacity, increasing this by up to 50% on current levels. This additional capability also allows for more planned maintenance across the entire composite door manufacturing operation.

“With the strength of the Masco Group behind us, we are continuing to invest in machinery, systems and people to deliver the best possible products and customer service,” commented
,Haydon Statham, Phoenix Doors’ sales director.

“The new CNC machining centre is an important investment for us as we continue to grow, while giving us the ability to meet shorter lead times,” he continued. “An added benefit is that it also gives us seamless continuous production without any downtime. Autumn is traditionally a busy time for us, so the new CNC’s arrival is particularly timely as we gear up for around 570 to 585 composite doors per week.”

In response to its sustained growth, Phoenix Doors now employs two full-time service engineers looking after machinery at its PVC-U door panels and composite door facilities. Expansion into a fourth unit at its Bluntisham site has also enhanced its production capabilities.
