Quanex invests in quality with advanced measurement technology

Quanex Hardware Solutions has invested in advanced in-house measurement technology for its extensive ERA product portfolio, as part of its commitment to exceptional quality standards.

Capable of measuring up to 5,000 component features in seconds, the KEYENCE IMX accelerates and automates the inspection process of complex components and assemblies.

It is set to be a key tool in ERA’s manufacturing operations going forward and provides early detection of dimensional trends and non-conformances to ensure quality standards are fully protected and maintained.

Jody Yates, Head of Quality at Quanex Hardware Solutions said: “We’re dedicated to continually improving our processes to meet the exceptional quality and performance standards our customers have come to expect from our products.

“The KEYENCE IMX system is just one part in ERA’s journey towards a fully integrated, bespoke metrology centre, strengthening quality, traceability and customer confidence.

“Investing in this advanced technology allows us to keep quality control in-house, giving our quality team direct oversight of the process from start to finish and enabling rapid inspection of complex components and assemblies.

“The investment also forms part of our ongoing sustainability commitments.  Better quality control reduces waste and improves operational efficiency, reinforcing our position as one of the industry’s most sustainable supply chain partners.”

The KEYENCE IMX combines optical, laser and touch-probe technologies on a single platform, underpinning ERA’s ISO 9001 quality management system while establishing a fully integrated metrology centre tailored to its manufacturing process and product portfolio.

To ensure complete accuracy and alignment with specifications, the technology generates inspection programmes directly from CAD models, PDFs and paper drawings, minimising inaccuracies and supporting proactive quality management.

The technology has a modular design and extended measurements, enabling it to inspect a wider variety of ERA products in-house, reducing the reliance on multiple measuring devices and external inspection services.
