The Window Company (Contracts) makes £10k community donation

Support for Moat Homes’ community investment arm Moat Foundation is an integral part of the partnership between The Window Company (Contracts) and the social housing provider on window and door replacement.

In line with that, the Chelmsford-based business has made a £10,000 donation to the Foundation, with a very special cheque presentation being made by Josh Twyman, who is a beneficiary of the Foundation’s work and is now employed by The Window Company (Contracts) as an Improver Fitter.

Josh received mentoring and work experience from The Window Company (Contracts)’ team in 2024, while they were involved in a volunteer Back to Work project at the Moat Foundation’s community hub in Stanhope, Kent, and they were so impressed with his ambition and commitment that they offered him a full-time role initially working in the Yard at their nearby depot in Ashford on one of their other window replacement contracts.

For the Moat Foundation, it is almost the perfect demonstration of social value in action, with Josh now able to mentor other young people in Stanhope on routes into employment.

The £10K donation from The Window Company (Contracts) is being earmarked to support a wider campaign in Moat’s community hubs in in Stanhope, Sittingbourne and Gravesend which will help young people, who might have fallen through the gaps of conventional education and training, to build confidence and resilience, alongside improving their literacy and numeracy.

James Musgrave, Moat Foundation Team Leader, explained: “We want to see more young people in our communities, like Josh, make a successful transition into work, so we will be allocating the £10K into a dedicated programme which will fund specialist mentoring and skills sessions.

“The Window Company (Contracts) is a valuable partner to the Foundation – not just financially, but because the team have shown a real willingness and enthusiasm to donate time, skills and equipment to a whole raft of valuable projects in our communities.

“They have supported us with everything from supplying and installing a new covered canopy at the Stanhope hub so that we can almost double the capacity for the  youth, craft and Men’s Shed sessions held there, to installing garden arbours for our retirement complex at Ockley Court in Sidcup and spending time gardening and chatting with the residents.”

The Window Company (Contracts) was first awarded the Moat Homes window and door replacement contract in 2010 via main contractor Keepmoat, and signed a new agreement in 2024 which extends their unbroken partnership to more than 15 years.

During that time, The Window Company (Contracts) has installed an estimated 15,000 PVC-U windows and 7420 residential doors and fire doors in more than 5000 Moat Homes’ properties throughout Essex, Kent, South London and Sussex. Tracked customer satisfaction levels are currently running at 98%.
