ERA takes on two apprentices

Leaders of ERA have recruited two new apprentices to the team, as part of the wider apprenticeship scheme developed by Tyman UK and Ireland, ERA’s parent company. Hatty-Mai McMahon has joined the health and safety department whilst also studying for her In-Comm Safety, Health and Environment Technician EBOSH National General Certificate qualification. She is joined by Tanique McCarthy, who is studying for her Level 3 Information Technology Technician qualification. Tanique is supporting the Tyman UK and Ireland IT team.

Both apprentices are set to work across Tyman UK and Ireland brands, including the home security and hardware provider ERA. Each has been paired with a mentor and subject matter expert in order to strengthen specialist knowledge and deliver on real-time projects alongside their studies.

Each of the apprentices earn a living wage, ERA’s representative has reported. They will be given the opportunity to be trained in other areas of the business, to gain a better understanding of company-wide operations and broaden their skillsets, and they will also have the opportunity to spend time with senior management.

“We recognise that going to university isn’t the only route into higher education and therefore we were eager to implement roles that support people on alternative educational paths, offering practical work experience whilst paying the living wage,” said Stacey Edwards, HR director for Tyman UK and Ireland. “It is great to see our new hires developing both academically and practically as they get stuck into working here.”

Hatty-Mai, health and safety apprentice, added: “I haven’t been here for long but I have already gained so much knowledge and experience from the apprenticeship programme which will really help me in my career.”

Tanique, IT apprentice, said: “Every day is different, and I am already enjoying meeting lots of new people and putting my skills to the test, such as problem-solving and taking on ‘real-life’ work tasks. It is good to know that the role I do has an impact on my colleagues across the business, enabling them to work efficiently using our IT network.

“The team is incredibly supportive and have been very welcoming.” For more information about ERA and Tyman, visit the home security firm’s website, or tymanplc.com.
