Veka Recycling’s new trio

PVC-U window and door recycling specialist, Veka Recycling, has strengthened its team with three significant appointments at its Wellingborough plant, Northamptonshire, which is now fully operational. The business has hired Gavin Reay, Magdalena Miler and Rai Szymanski.

With a background managing areas including logistics, procurement, customer service and sales, Gavin Reay was appointed as business development manager. Gavin’s plans for the role include developing Veka Recycling’s client base to obtain a higher yield of post-consumer frames and offcuts, ultimately producing a larger volume of recycled pellet.

Magdalena Miler joins the company as quality engineer, with key responsibilities initially including the creation of standardised work processes to reduce errors. rom her previous roles working for a large automotive company, Magdalena brings experience in areas such as quality visual inspection, customer liaison, product and process auditing, continuous improvement and training.

Elsewhere, Rai Szymanski was promoted to yard supervisor, after working for Veka Recycling for three years. Described as the company’s resident expert in loading and unloading vehicles, Rai’s enthusiasm to progress has culminated in his first management job. Rai, who confidently operates the crane and telehandler, is responsible for accepting all incoming material for onward processing through the site, as well as the smooth loading of all vehicles departing the site with its recycled pellet on board. Rai said: “It is great to be recognised for my hard work. I am looking forward to building my team so that the site runs smoothly at all times.”

Simon Scholes, Veka Recycling’s managing director, added: “With our brand new, state-of-the-art plant now fully up and running, the arrival of Gavin and Magdalena – and Rai’s well-deserved promotion – further reinforces our future development plans. All three have been specially selected for their talents in their respective fields, and their appointments are significant in helping us continuously improve our recycling operations going forward.”
