Aluminium prescribed for new hospital

Heatherwood Hospital has been enhanced by a range of aluminium fenestration solutions from Senior Architectural Systems. A team from Soundcraft, a specialist contractor, fabricated and installed the solutions for the 100m hospital in Ascot, Berkshire.

The project features products including the slimline SF52 aluminium curtain wall system, the SFG shop front glazing system and integrated SD commercial doors.

To provide safe and secure access, Senior’s SPW501 aluminium commercial doors were chosen for the main access points. SPW600 aluminium windows were installed throughout.

Other sustainable features include photovoltaic solar panels and a green living roof to manage rainwater absorption.

Senior’s technical team and a locally based architectural advisor were on hand to provide specification support and guidance, including help with U-value calculations
and Part L compliance.

The new building comprises resources from treatment rooms to operating theatres, day and outpatient facilities and specialist x-ray, MRI, and radiology services.

The overall design of the hospital was greatly influenced by the woodland that surrounds it, the building’s architect explained. Senior’s aluminium fenestration systems frame expansive views and maximise the use of natural light.

Heatherwood Hospital was designed by architects from BDP. For more information about Senior Architectural Systems, visit seniorarchitectural.co.uk or search for Senior Architectural Systems on Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook.
