Teams from Everglade Windows and Shaws Installations installed systems from Smart Architectural Aluminium’s window and door ranges for a barn refurbishment in West Sussex. They installed five sets of Smart’s Visoglide lift-and-slide doors, 16 Alitherm 300 casement windows and three EcoFutural tilt-and-turn windows.
The 72-year-old barn building is owned by Sally Bigg OBE (formerly Sally Gunnell) and her husband Jonathan. Sally won a 1992 Olympic gold medal for the 400m hurdles. She is still the British record holder, and the only female British athlete to have won Olympic, world, European and commonwealth titles.
At the rear of the property, an Alitherm Plus residential door was installed, while a Sherbourne front door from Smart’s statement Designer Door range completed the scheme. All of the windows and doors were finished in a textured black, polyester powder coat paint finish.
“We took a long time to decide on the windows and doors, as they are so important not only to the overall look of the property but also to the way we live and work in it,” said Sally. “Integrating the indoor and outdoor spaces was really important, and we are all absolutely delighted with the end result.
“The process, from design right through to installation, has been an enjoyable experience. We’ve worked with a really professional, dedicated and friendly team. It’s so rewarding to see the end result of all that work.”
