Elegance at Shire Hall

CDW Systems has lent its support to a multi-million-pound regeneration project at Shire Hall, the HQ of Gloucestershire County Council.

The Gloucester-based trade and commercial fabricator was tasked with manufacturing and supplying Sapa’s Elegance 52 curtain walling. Chosen for its versatility, efficiency and aesthetic appeal, the curtain walling system was installed in blocks two, three and six of the building, including Gloucester Police Station.

Working alongside commercial installer, Alfram, and Gloucestershire County Council, the new curtain walling is just one part of the large-scale renovation.

The combination of Elegance 52, along with photovoltaic solar panels and DF 75 Si reversible windows means Shire Hall meets the council’s energy usage aims, reportedly creating one of the most energy-efficient offices in England.

Chris Beacham, director of Alfram and contracts manager for the project, said: “Having worked with many curtain walling systems over the years, I can confidently say that Elegance 52 is the most complete curtain walling system we have used to date. CDW once again delivered for us on this project, with continued support from the initial conversation, right through to specification, supply and installation.”
