New building adds up

acornJack Aluminium’s low U-value curtain walling has solved a problem at the School of Mathematical Sciences at a Nottingham university, after Acorn Aluminium calculated it was the right product for the job.

Nottingham based Acorn Aluminium has installed Jack Aluminium’s Curtain Wall Suite, in a new mathematical sciences building for the University of Nottingham, at the heart of its Park Campus.

The curtain walling forms part of a new facility that includes workspace areas for academic staff, postgraduates, undergraduates and administrative staff, arranged around a central atrium.

Jack Aluminium’s curtain walling product uses PVC-U pressure plates to create a thermal insulation barrier and speed up installation. This combined with ‘cost effective’ glass units, provides a high performing curtain walling set, with what is described as ‘excellent’ thermal performance.

David Stephens, sales manager at Acorn Aluminium, said: “Jack Aluminium’s low U-value Curtain Walling Suite met all of the required standards and came in within budget for the project at the University of Nottingham. Having worked with them for more than five years, we knew we could rely on Jack Aluminium to deliver a quality product on time.”

Jeff Pearson, sales director at Jack Aluminium, added: “Jack Aluminium’s Curtain Wall Suite combines aluminium with PVC-U to enhance the thermal performance of the unit to make it ideal for school and university buildings.”
