BBA award

bbaA&B Glass has reportedly become the first bi-fold door Agrément certificate holder.

To gain British Board of Agrément (BBA) approval, the Suffolk based manufacturer had to demonstrate that the Eurocell Aspect Panoramic PVC-U bi-folding door system was ‘fit for purpose’. To do this, the system was put through a robust assessment involving laboratory testing, on-site evaluations, and inspections of production. The manufacturer’s office systems were also audited to ensure that a suitable quality management system was in place.

Commenting on the award, David Johnson, quality manager, of A&B Glass said: “Becoming the first Agrément certificate holder for bi-fold doors is a great achievement for us, particularly as the certificate also includes Enhanced Security to PAS24:2012.”

Eurocell Profiles will shortly be issued with an Agrément certificate for its bi-fold door system so fabricators of this system will be able to apply for BBA certification.

The BBA offers approval and certification services to manufacturers and installers supplying the construction industry. The BBA provides reassurance by assessing manufacturers’ products, systems and procedures to ensure they are ‘fit for purpose’. It also provides inspection services monitoring installers of BBA approved schemes and third party inspection of installers for client managed schemes. BBA Certificates are recognised by government departments, associations, insurers, architects, designers, engineers, building control and local authorities.
