Emplas’ Mike Crewdson will embark on a second coast-to-coast charity walking challenge, this time following in the footsteps of Roman Legions along Hadrian’s Wall. Mike set out on his first challenge in June 2014, completing a 220-mile coast-to-coast walk across the North of England in just 10 days to raise more than £24,000 for St Ann’s Hospice in Manchester, in memory of his late wife Rosemary Crewdson.

With blisters now heeled and aches and pains gone, Mike is calling on the industry to support a second challenge along the full 90 miles of Hadrian’s Wall between 10 and 16 September 2016. This time the campaign is for a local homeless charity and Mike’s son, Philip, 32. Philip, who is autistic and requires ongoing care, is a volunteer with the Northamptonshire Centre for the Homeless and Poor, which is trying to raise more than £30,000 to refurbish its overnight and shower facilities and food and clothes banks.

Mike said: “Philip is my beautiful 32 year old autistic son, and as you can see from the photo, he is a big fan of Thomas!

“We’re trying to raise £30,000 to help equip a Northamptonshire Centre for the homeless and poor. It provides temporary overnight accommodation and shower facilities for the homeless, as well as a Food Bank and Clothes Bank.

“The support we got from the industry first time around for the Coast-to-Coast was immense and if we can rally the same level of support again, I’m confident we can hit our £30,000 target!”
