Educating the ‘architects of the future’

rehauRehau has begun a programme of CPD sessions at universities across the UK, helping to educate the ‘architects and specifiers of the future’ on the application of different materials in UK fenestration, and the design standards that apply.

The first session, delivered by John McNama, one of Rehau’s commercial managers, took place at Liverpool John Moores University recently. It was attended by 30 students studying building and quantity surveying, architectural technology and engineering, and construction management.

John McNama’s main role is to increase the specification of Rehau products and systems in commercial projects across the north of the UK, and to increase awareness of the design and structural potential of different material options. He regularly presents this RIBA approved Fenestration CPD to architects but this was the first time he has delivered it to students.

John Gammon, senior lecturer at the university, commented: “John’s CPD was very useful for our students, most of whom are just starting out on their careers in construction. It gave them a valuable insight into both the design potential and structural constraints on fenestration in real world construction.

“The feedback on the session was so positive that we hope to make it an annual event for our students.”

Rehau is offering the CPD to other universities and higher education establishments. To request details, contact: Jayne.Blackborow@rehau.com or phone: 0207 307 8590.
