Glazerite golf day raises £12,000 for Kelly’s Heroes charity

Glazerite's Jeff Dunn presents Sherry Adams, CEO of Kelly's Heroes with the money raised from Glazerite's 17th Pro Am Golf Day The Glazerite UK Group

Participants of the Glazerite UK Group’s Pro-Am golf day have raised £12,000 for the Kelly’s Heroes charity. The sum was generated by a fundraising auction.

The event was attended by 136 people, who gathered at Wellingborough Golf Club on Friday 7 July.

Kelly’s Heroes promotes wellbeing and mental health. The charity was previously known as We Mind and Kelly Matters, and was originally set up by Glazerite’s former chair, John Hewitt, after the death of his daughter in 2018.

Several of Glazerite’s customers, suppliers and employees took part in the golfing event, which is now in its 17th year.

A team from Symphony Windows won the tournament, with the team from Mews Windows taking second place. The Veka Plan UK team finished third. In total, 34 teams of 136 golfers took part in competitions that included ‘Nearest the Pin’ and ‘Longest Drive’ challenges.

The event was sponsored by DoorCo and Window Ware. After the golf, guests joined Glazerite employees for a garden party, where Sherry Adams, CEO of Kelly’s Heroes, was presented with the £12,000 cheque for the charity.

“Kelly’s Heroes was wonderfully supported by Glazerite throughout the day, and our new logo was everywhere, from the golf balls to the advertising boards,” said Sherry. “Even Glazerite’s employees were wearing pink, which was Kelly’s favourite colour.

“The event will help us to continue to support those suffering with their mental health, as well as those affected by bereavement by suicide. We were thrilled by the amount everyone raised; £12,000 is astonishing.

“A huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped raise so much for Kelly’s Heroes!”

The money raised will support Kelly’s Heroes’ ‘Listening Ear’ initiative, which aims to offer support from 6pm to 9pm, 365 days a year, for anyone who needs help.

Rob Brearley, group managing girector of Glazerite, added: “We’d like to thank the PGA and Wellingborough Golf Club for hosting the golf and the party, as well as all those who took part and helped us to raise an incredible amount for such a worthy charity.

“We love to welcome customers, employees and suppliers to the Glazerite annual golf day, and to celebrate with us afterwards. We look forward to hosting it again next year!”
